    Re: Headlight Yellowing

Kinda like old friends that have a common interest sitting around drinking coffee or something and telling stories isn't it? A little teasing, a few jokes, support when there are troubles and help when it is needed.

That is what this forum is all about as far as I am concerned. It is a lot more than a forum about a car. I feel that most of the members have the same attitude.

Some folks just don't get it. That's too bad because they probably have a lot to offer.

Boy I almost missed this one having it be a poll and the fact that I'd said enough on the subject. The jesting is just a small sidelight to TBN. I seem to garner more of that than most. As to TBN been a good or bad forum I've not been part of any other car forum. I will tell you this Slater, on TBN there are some REALLY smart and knowledgeable people that help link us more tyro types to the cars we love. I Know TOPIC!

Headlights? Did I hear someone say, headlights?

seagull or should I say DaddysT.

There are a couple other T-Bird forums on the internet and I'm sure they would like you to join them, yes, they charge to use them. No one is twisting your arm to stick around. For me, if I don't like something I leave.

When I had the deer try to mate with my Bird less than two years ago I had the opportunity to get two new headlight assemblies. They are now yellowed worse than the originals. Has anyone else had this happen with replacements?

Bill, I installed the low cost ebay headlights lights about 18 months ago in two cars. Still look like new. I just received a set for the IG that I will install tomorrow. I am satisfied. I do wax and use detailer on the them if that makes any difference.

I took MATBird George's excellent recommendation and installed XPEL covers on my 82k mile Black Beauty. I have the original headlights and they still look like new...TRY IT!

Swapped mine with a pair I purchased on Amazon. Perfect fit and look. Super easy swap.. 15 minutes. About 145$ total.

I've used Rusty's method in the past with great results. Never looked better.

                            Re: Headlight Yellowing

When it comes to foggy and/or yellowing headlights, I had excellent results using the Sylvania Headlight Restoration Kit with everything needed to do the job (and also comes with a lifetime warranty).

Pop the headlights out, or mask around the headlights with the black tape provided.

Step 1 is to spray on the Surface Activator which makes the yellow discolouration liquefy and run right off the headlights. Second steps are to sand and polish the headlights. The last step is the application of the UV Block Clearcoat protective liquid which, on application, clarifies and seals the headlights and blocks future UV radiation damage.

It was super fast, it was super easy, and my OEM headlights look like new. Don't take my word for it; the kit won the Popular Mechanics Editor's Choice Awards. The approximate cost of the kit on fleaBay or Amazon is under $20 in the U.S.

Headlights were replaced less than 3 years ago. New and bright and clear. Put away for the winter, pulled cover off and they are cloudy as all get out. What's up with that?

Just went out with 1/3 tube of toothpaste and a bucket of water and a brush. Fifteen minutes and the results are amazing.
