What do you guys think about this ad I saw in Skymall magazine. Also www.skymall.com

The frame activates a sonar like device when the backup lights come on. Has anyone tried this?

    Picture of ad attached.

OK taflocks you are the kind of guy who should know about these things.

                Re: Auto.Alert License Frame

KarylP I had concerns with the Hummer when I got it because you have a hard time seeing things that are low. In the hummer that accounts for things about 40 inches or lower. On ebay I found a similar device that plugs into the rear bumper wiring harness for $15. I felt it was a big help and so did the mothers at my daughters school when I dropped her off in the mornings. I have since changed out to a video camera that goes in the trailer hitch and comes on when the vehicle goes in reverse. I have a 3 X 2" color monitor on the dash that lests me see everything behind. That's overkill for the T-Bird, but the product you found would be perfect. They are not as load as you hear on large trucks and these smaller ones don't beep. They usually give a constant pitch until you shift out of reverse.

Good find! I would do search though on the net the SKYMALL is usually overpriced.

                  Re: Auto.Alert License Frame

Just about all the items I check on the SKYMALL link were overpriced.

Tom: be careful around that radial arm saw if you should decide to do any more of your "on the hood photos!"

                    Re: Auto.Alert License Frame

I would think it might be annoying having to watch out for all those red arc things behind the car when you are backing up. I would rather run over the bike without having to watch out for them. On the other hand, maybe I could look behind me before I started backing up. I seriously doubt that I would ever fully trust a $40 radar or sonar device. That would mean that I would probably look anyway, so why bother? Might be fun to set off everyone's radar detectors, though.

Someone used to sell a replacement back-up light bulb that would beep when reverse is activated.

The only reason I didn't get it was if remember correctly it was a bit pricey...40 bucks maybe? It just seemed like alot for bulb that may or may not work and or be reliable...anyone ever used one of them?
