Yeah, you win in the winter, but during the summer............I'll stick with Joisey. I think we only cracked 90 one or two days this year. It was a little wet, but compared to what you folks got, it was wonderful.

Not trying to bust chops, because we all know how serious the hurricanes were (my company closed down it's 35+ branches many times), my biggest worry about the hurricanes was that it was going to make the Wildwood NJ ocean too rough to go swimming in.

Some folks in one of our Florida branches, with houses on the beach, have lost the beach.

But, I spent about ten days in Orlando (on the job) and Marco Island (ex-boss' house) last March, and it was beautiful, especlly Marco.

I'm with you can't beat Spring, Summer and Fall in New England. Now winters are getting milder and milder. They certainly not the same as when I was a youngster with over 100 inches of snow a winter.

I generally will only take mine out on nice days. However, we did drive home from Asheville in an ice strom.

Hybernation is what our bird does, covered, battery tendered, and started and run for 20 minutes once or twice in mid winter. Michigan winters are hard on cars, and I much prefer the AWD Escape when the weather gets nasty. :pc:

My car gets the same treatment as Kevins and Chris' birds do. Like Chris said, the Michigan winters can be bad, and they use tons of salt on the roads. My car usually will get put away sometime in November when the predictions start looking bad, and then comes back out in April, just in time for my birthday. Most of the local cruise places are wrapping up their seasons this week and the car clubs are all doing fall color tours while they can.

My Bird will be used the same as summer......on nice days out driving...rain, snow or whatever else, it sits in the garage and I drive the pick up truck.

Since I live in Northern California, I will change to the hard top in a month and drive in the rain as well. Not quite as much fun to ride (since no longer a roadster) but I think it looks better.

MotorWeek on the Speed channel last night had some bad things to say about trickle chargers and how, over time, they can overcharge a battery.

The recommended another device that turns "on/off" depending on the battery's strength.

Even though I put my bird in storage for the winter I find it better to start the car and take a 10 to 15 mile run once a month (on average) than to use a battery tender. Just my personal opinion.

Our hardtop went into storage in July of 2003 when we moved back to Arizona and has not been on the car since. We try to go topless anytime the temperature is below 100* aobe that we tend to put the soft top up and turn on the A/c. Occasionally, the side windows are up. soft top is down and the A/C is on.

Garaged, hard-top on, out only during dry weather and clear roads.
Only putting hard-top on because it looks nice.

I guess I'll learn how to wash Birdy in the winter cause it's an everyday car for me. Wouldn't have it any other way either! I love this car! But I'm not looking forward to 35 degree days washing and the wind howling, turning my poor fingers into ice blocks. YIKES! We have very over zealous DOT people up here in the mtns of Western NC. If the heavens have the slightest indication that maybe a teeny flake of snow may fall, the salt trucks come out in force and school is cancelled. It's crazy and will drive anyone crazy as well. I'm not really looking forward to driving in snow, but am curious as to how the bird will do. Hopefully, after all this rain we have had, that it will be a dry winter. Yeah, dream on..........

The Birds do well in the snow. We discovered this last Dec thanks to the "Other" Pressleys in NC.!!

We had a blast up there on the BR Parkway in and around Asheville.

..but I think the ice/snow on the roads may have been cause for some puckers in some of our cruisers!

According to instructions I got with one of my motorcycles (prob applies to cars too) it is more damaging to the motor to just crank and run it for a few minutes. The engine needs to be brought to operating temp for a while to burn out any moisture in the oil. Just cranking for short periods can cause condensation that harms the engine.

So, If you're gonna crank it you might as well take her for a ride!!

Oh, and yes we will be driving the DrtiBrd through out the winter and thanks to Tom Flocks and a few other whiz kids here I have a nice top hoist (Harbor Freight powered) for quick removal of the top for nice winter days.
