  • License plate poll

Due to overwhelming response, I must somehow find a way to get across 'Queen of Diamonds' on my Thunderbird's license plate (7 characters). For the full story, check out: this thread . Here are some possibilities available in California.

    Q DMNDS
    Q DIMNDS
    QN DMNDS
    QN DIM

I think I like number 2 there: And I even can get a picture of what it will look like from the California DMV page, but for some reason I can't paste it in here. Oh well, it looks pretty good. I think One and Three could be construed as "Demands" rather than "Diamonds." Although I do like number three a lot.

Oddly, Q OF D was taken.

However, since this forum has the handy-dandy poll attachment, I'm going to let y'all vote on it. I'm not saying that the number one vote-getter will be it, but I still want to know what you people think.

There should be an attachment here called "plate1" that shows what each entry might look like in real life. So let me know.

    Thanks, John

'Better check with your DMV. If CA is like TN, they will count your "space" as a letter, thereby eliminating many of your choices. The link you included is not "state sensitive" as to the number of allowable letters, it only provides the official background artwork for each state.

See my attachment, but when I ordered the tag, I had to remove the letter "i" in order to comply.

John, this may help you visualize your vanity plate but as Blunbird indicated you have to go to your DMV to see what the rules are. Most now have online website that will answer such questions and be able to download the correct forms.

            No Magic!
Here is a website that you can make license plates from every state. Its a nice way to see if 1) your plate makes sense and 2) looks the way you think it does.

            http://search.netscape.com/ns/boomframe.jsp?query=acme+license+plate+maker&page= 1&offset=0&result_url=redir%3Fsrc%3Dwebsearch%26re questId%3D71e1626f5b827816%26clickedItemRank%3D1%2 6userQuery%3Dacme%2Blicense%2Bplate%2Bmaker%26clic kedItemURN%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.acme.com%252Fl icensemaker%252F%26invocationType%3D-%26fromPage%3DNSCPTop%26amp%3BampTest%3D1&remove_u rl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.acme.com%2Flicensemaker%2F

For example here is my vanity on a special RI plate.

Don't forget that you can use a heart in place of an 'O"...for your q of d plate.

And in our family, anything the Queen demands must be obeyed.
I ordered PINKI LE a few weeks ago.

Pinkilee is correct, on the DMV website the Kids plate allows the use of symbols and the heart is available. Good luck and happy spelling.

Why put a heart on a plate when you're trying to say diamonds?

You may want to think of a phonetic spelling.

be careful with the "DMNDS" thing...looks like a "B' movie, or they'll think your head of the local coven or something!

What Phil suggested would be great... Q of <>s.

Too bad you can't use the smilie.

I was thinking the same thing while driving around today. Ann Rice and the vampire Lestat would be proud! Queen of the Damned. (Although I have been called this myself.....)
Unfortunately there are no symbols to make a diamond, but the 'dy' spelling is smart. maybe put an 'n' in there.
                              Keep trying, something will work.
