Re: Sad News - Loss of an Original TBN Member

I can't begin to express how my heart hurts with the passing of our long time travel buddy Gary Himes. Gary and BJ were both very gracious hosts and we stayed with them numerous times when we traveled across the country. Gary was quick to laugh and he loved to kid around with you especially when he could " stir the pot." My heart and prayers go out to BJ and their family. Gary will be missed as much as he was loved.

As many miles as we traveled together, never occurred that this would happen. Gary and BJ were the 2nd couple that I met on TBN. Our 1st caravan to Florida in 2002. It was good to be able to be with and support BJ yesterday and I will be at the memorial Saturday.
This is so hard to write---RIP Gary--- then take another lap around the track!!!!

Sharon and I were shocked to hear the news of Gary Himes sudden death. I've been on the road all day with plenty of time to think about what to say in this post but I'm still having trouble finding the right words. Gary was indeed a Gem of a man that always made you feel like you've known forever. I was there when Gary & Pat drove into North Dakota to complete their lower 48 states. Then this year after DC THUNDER Gary & BJ were going home but they drove several miles out of their way to be their when I drove into SC for my 48th. That's just how caring Gary was. It meant more to me than the dash plaque. Rest in peace Gary, and prayers to BJ and family for their loss.

Dennis and I are very sad to loose a TBN member that was so special. Gary was always so courteous and helpful to us when we needed some help. Our thoughts are with BJ and their family. Gary will be missed at future TBN events and always.

Roger, Connie and I were talking about special times with Gary and the time we crossed into North Dakota was one of the best. " Gary Berry " was a nickname for him between BJ, Connie, and me. It developed after we noticed he was always getting blueberries and strawberries when we went to a grocery store on our trips. Rest in peace my dear friend.

I never had the occasion to meet Gary in person, but we spoke by phone from time to time. He was always helpful, positive and upbeat, and based on other comments here, it's obvious he made a memorable impression on those who met and knew him. Condolences to his family and his TBN friends.

Judy and I will be leaving Sebring Fl. in the morning on our highway cruise to meet up with and say our goodbyes to a good and close friend. It will be a long drive of memories.
