  • Ken Clayton (ChromeDome)

    Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is with great sadness that I post this news. Ken Clayton passed away a short time ago. His ex-son in law called Jeff to tell him a couple of minutes ago.

Please keep Ken's family in your thoughts and prayers. Jep is going to let us know about Ken's arrangements. I'll share them with you when I have more information.

Ken was in Johnson City and truly loved being with his Thunderbird friends. He will be missed.

So happy we got to see him one last time in Johnson City. In fact, when he posted that he was going to come, it helped spur us on to make the commitment for the long hard trip back. If Ken could do it, then surely we could.

Ken and Mildred were both very special people. We are all better off from having known them.

RIP Ken and say Hi to Mildred for us.

So sad to see this. Ken was one in a million. He and Mildred were such a special couple. At least they are now together again.

It amazes me how a matter of days can make such a difference. We were really glad to see him in Johnson City and know he enjoyed this last hurrah. RIP Ken.

I am very sorry to learn of this news. Ken consistently posted such good wishes to members and though I never met him, I could tell he was a fine person. I hope he and Mildred are now reunited and Tbird cruising again.....

Aw! Met him at Johnson City and ate a meal with him. Swore I was bringing a scale to the next event and that he had to be 129 lbs. He laughed. We laughed together. Sure the event was the way he wanted to go out with a smile.

                      Re: Ken Clayton (ChromeDome)

This saddens me beyond words. Ken and Mildred were two wonderful loving people who without the TBird would never have gotten to know.

Ken shared a story with me about Mildred's passing at Johnson City that brought my heart to a standstill. He told me that Mildred loved the little dog she got from me at one of the events and her last words and thoughts as she hugged that little dog, was "Jeannie gave this to me." She then passed away.

I lost my mother a long time ago and when I first met Mildred she reminded me so much of my own mother and her feistiness. You just never know what small act to you is such a big act of kindness to someone else. Life is too short for some of the pettiness that goes on in the world. Life is just too short and precious for that.

RIP Ken and tell Mildred " hi from me." You will both be missed terribly.

Ken's Daughter Kim Moore posted this on Facebook.

With great sadness I must report that my daddy Kenneth Ivan Clayton passed away today at 507 pm. It was very peaceful. At his request there will be no viewing or funeral. Julian Peeples will be taking care of him. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers over the past few weeks.

When Ken called me and said he would try to come to the Stateline Cruise I was overjoyed. He kept me posted on how things were going and I knew he was making a super effort just to be with the Thunderbird people he loved. He will never know how he touched all our hearts by being there, he thought it was for him, but we were all blessed by his presence. I am glad to know he is with his love, Mildred.

We really enjoyed the time we spent with Ken Clayton and his niece, Johnnie, at the StateLine Cruise last month.

Our sincere condolences to Ken's family on his passing.
