  • More Sad News - Loss of another TBN Member

This has to be one of the toughest days in TBN history. I found out from another member this evening that we lost another member today - Stan Walker (Swalker) age 69 from western Tennessee near Memphis.

Stan was very active here on TBN for about 5 years while he and Martha owned an 03 Whisper White beauty. The Tbird was really Martha's baby as Stan was an old school Mopar guy. In the end the Tbird gave way to a new Challenger around 2011 (I believe it was a SRT8). As usual around here, when the TBird went, over time his participation on TBN diminished and we haven't seen much of Stan in recent years so a lot of our new members won't know him. He did keep up with a lot of folks via Facebook, so some may know him from there. Stan also had a history of heart problems

For those of us that knew him, we will all remember Stan for his great wit and good spirit. He and Martha participated in several TBN events including Heartland Thunder in Tulsa in 2006. I remember he particularly enjoyed the track time on Hallet Motor Racing Circuit during the event. In fact, as I was told earlier, "He and Gary are probably racing each other in Heaven right now".

Please join me in praying for Martha and Stan's family in this time of loss. If you have stories or thoughts about Stan please post them on this thread so Martha will know we care.

    RIP Stan,

    Paul and Rosetta

I know I posted this on Gary's thread, but it bears repeating here:

Stan Walker passed early this morning. It is hard to fathom losing 2 friends in one sad day.

Stan Walker owned a white 2003 and was very active in the early years of TBN. I believe he sold it in 2007 after hosting several events in the Memphis area.

Both men will be sorely missed. Our heartfelt best wishes go out to the families.
Unbelivable TBN trips including ALL of the lower 48 States plus 9 Canadian Provinces, 8 European Countries, 3 Caribbean Countries, Countless National Parks and have attended well over 100 TBN Events since 2001 and counting. Best of all ... fabulous friends.

Like Stan, after we sold our Tbirds, my participation here dinimished as well, but we never lost frequent contact with Stan, via emails and Facebook. Met for lunch a few times as we passed through on our NC to OR trips and enjoyed that.
Stan was so proud of his son's restaurant and was totally in love with Rose, his granddaughter. I think she brought a light to his life that helped him through the heart problems he has been facing for several years.
Martha was the backbone and pillar of his life.. his one true love.
Martha, if you read this, please know our prayers and thoughts are with you all.
I am still stunned. I thought Stan was invincible.

And Stan loved his mini lazer pointer and knew how to drive us all crazy with it. He could hit a spoon you were holding or a hamburger just as you were ready to take a bite. But you could never catch him in the act doing his mischief. It was great fun to watch. I expecially liked his under arm pit behind the back shot the best.

Stan was definitely one of a kind person and he loved telling stories. He was so thankful when a group of the Thunderbird people helped his son out. We haven't seen Stan much over the years after the Thunderbird was sold, but once a TBN er, always a TBN er.

Rest In Peace Stan. Stan was such a character but he had a heart of gold and a lead foot. At Heartland thunder he either won or purchased a beautiful framed pic of a merlot tbird. Later Lo and behold there was Stan bringing it to me, he wouldn't take anything for it he just wanted a smile. That was Stan.

I'd like to think that now Julie, Stan, and Gary are in heaven racing each other without any worries of spending time in the back of a cop car or watching the speed detector.
