Good luck in the hunt Charlie. I know Steve Nelson with the Steel Blue out of Sarasota sold his second Retro and bought a Buick Casada that they really like.

Was selling the Bird an issue with being able to get in/out easily or some other issue?

Bill, the main reason for selling the Bird was that parts are getting hard to find. It was also the ability to get in and out. I thought it was just time to sell her. It was hard on both of us to sell her. She needed a good home and to be driven more than we were doing.

You should have said yes to the Mustang as now she's eyeing a BMW.

NEVER own one without a warranty. Better yet, lease it under the original warranty.

I'm sure I'm being repetitive, but we owned one from new for about 9 years...biggest issue we had was with the power window clips. They would break (from the heat - BMW reported this event only happened in Arizona and Florida). Same manufacturer for all cars coming out of German (VW, Audi, Porsche, etc. - same problem experienced by all of them).
When they broke, window wouldn't go up or down (and would sometimes get stuck). It was okay when it was under warranty, but after warranty was up, it cost us $300+ per windowto repair them. Car drove like a dream (best highway vehicle we've ever owned - tranny was a smooth as silk). But if we had it to do over again, we would have bought the extended warranty on it - it would have saved us a bundle JUST on the window repairs.

OMG, same day having an eclipse and the owner of TBN saying they sold their Bird 'cause of parts availability. What could be next?

                    Margaret,

I was really impressed with the 2015 Mustang convertible that we rented in Colorado, when our T-Bird decided to puke last June. That rental Mustang had the 2.3 liter 4-cylinder engine with Turbo. There was plenty of power for passing on 2-lane highways. I got it up to 90 mph quickly many times while heading to and from Wisconsin Thunder. Also, it had plenty of trunk room, more than the T-Bird. I think you would like it very much.

SugarBabe really liked driving that Mustang, following Paul and Rosetta back from the Cave of the Mounds, on those curvy roads in Wisconsin. She thought she was back on the race track in Oklahoma!

The hunt is over. We decided not to look at any more brands and headed straight to the Ford dealership. No convertibles on the lot so we test drove a hatch back with the 2.3 EcoBoost engine. Those 310 hp will really get up and go. Dealer found a 2017 Ruby Red in Memphis. Its now on it's way to Jackson. Will get it tomorrow afternoon. I guess you could say that Ford owns us.

                        Ruby Red hatchback or convertible?

Now you are talking, ask your dealer if a x-plan will help on your price. As a retired Ford employee I can sponsor you.

Charlie, I'm sure you negotiated well. Any Ford dealer in the Atlanta area will beat X plan all day long for a retail customer. IE: 2.3 Coupe with an MSRP of $29,580 X plan price $28,072 Invoice $28,310 There is $860 hold back on that car that the dealer can go into as far as they want. True, on X plan the doc fee can be no more than $60, vs up to $599 from on a straight retail. Not a lot of spread on A Mustang but numbers hold true whether it's V6 2.3 5.0 premium or standard. I know of dealers that will sell at invoice and go all the way into the holdback and come out a few hundred under Z plan. You bought a nice car, enjoy.

Congratulations on joining the Ruby Red Crew! I know you will enjoy it a lot!

We just bought a Ruby Red 2017 Ford Explorer, with 3.5 L V-6, on August 9.
SugarBabe picked it out on our Ford dealer's lot.
She reluctantly lets me drive it sometimes. LOL!
