  • AVERAGE MILEAGE ?

Curious what everyone seems to be getting mileage wise. I just checked and I'm doing 16-17 mpg in mixed city-highway using regular. 2003 with 120-K on the clock.

I just filled with premium (usually the cost/mileage ratio improves), so I get more miles per gallon but around the same mile per dollar.

In town all mine get eighteen or more and on the highway they all get twenty-three or more. The Inca Gold averaged 24.8 mpg on the 7,150 mile trip in August.

24 on the highway & around 20 in town. When I worked for Texaco the standing joke was that you pay 10% more for premium to get 5% better mileage.

I’ve been getting as high as 26 to the US gallon cruising at 75 with cruise control on, light traffic and no construction. Change any of those parameters and it drops.

I get a a little over 24mpg but we live about 12 miles from town so a lot of the driving is on open highway. Car has 122k mileage and my mechanic's location is 25 miles from the house. He always says the miles were easy ones. I told him once that for easy miles I seem to have replaced just about everything. It doesn't use a drop of oil.

I have 2 Thunderbirds and a Lincoln Town Car. All have V8's. If I was interested in the miles per gallon, I would have bought a Honda Fit or Toyota Yaris.

Normally I get between 22 and 23 mpg on the highway at 75 mph. EPA ratings are for 55 mph, so I'm getting appropriate gas mileage. Funny but my best mileage occurred when I had (2) coils go out on a trip to Nashville Ten Thunder in 2012. Couldn't just step on the gas and chase my friend in his SHO so, got over 25mpg!

Yikes, this thread puts the Big Teasy in a new light. 2200 miles round trip. 22 mpg =100 gallons @ $2.50 PER = ?????. OK HONEY, NO SOUVENIERS, AND NO SILVER BEADS.

Only two tanks to judge from since we bought the Bird in Florida and drove it 688 miles home. Got 23 mpg on that trip. Car has only 4688 miles when we got it in Florida.
I use premium as that is what was recommended. Will used premium ethanol free from now on just like I do in my street rods. ( I use ethanol free in all my vehicles, boat and small engines ). It is readily available here all the time and makes engines run so much better and efficiently.

I didn't buy this car for mileage (thanks for the humor folks...) but I did want to know what "average" might be.

I just filled up high test and will check the numbers again. It's a mix of local and some highway (but more local driving than highway), which might explain the mileage being on the lower end of the spectrum.

Wish I could get ethanol free gas....I hate ethanol. Lowers mpg, and gums up my lawn equipment and generator unless I use Stabil or Seafoam.
