    Die Cast Prices Continue to Drop

    I tossed in a $10 bid on a Beanstalk DSB in a box to see how the bidding would go last week. No other bidders, so I won. Picture of the box show that the plastic windows is crinkled, but the model looks OK. I think this might be a new low.

      $5 is what they generally retail for new. They are commonly available models on the low end of the spectrum.

        Frank you are absolutely correct. Am amazed at the multiple Neiman Marcus selling for a fraction of what you and I remember them selling for last year.

          Right now there are more NM offered than there have been for about a year. They go from $25 to $70. Some offer free shipping.

              There is a huge swing in what diecasts go for on eBay. A lot seems to depend on how much the owner knows about what they have, how they are described, what category they are put in and, of course, who's looking.

              Frank, while you were able to sneak up on a DSB for a great price, this list of sold Beanstalk Thunderbirds shows that at least two were sold in the last 3 months for over $100 each:

              While NM and the more common color Maisto models prices fluctuate a lot, this list of sold 2002 Thunderbirds shows at least one sold for over $100 with shipping in the past few months:

              It also looks like the Thunderbird Blue model consistently does well in the high $20s plus shipping, which is around double what they cost new. The Torch Red and Evening Black have some decent sales numbers as well. A lot of early 1:1 owners thought their undriven cars were going to do that well, but we all know how that turned out.
