Since I'm getting old, I don't remember if there was a dashboard light (on 2002) that illuminated the tach and speedometer. They're not illuminated now, but I can't imagine that they weren't before--I just don't remember. I've searched through the manual but can't find anything. All of the other dashboard lights work, but when the headlights are on, the speedometer and tach are not illuminated. Help!

I have same problem on dash lights so I'll be watching this to see what happens. I also have a new switch to install on my mirrors as they quit working also.
I'm thinking of installing a small led strip to illuminate the dash gauges.

Thanks, everyone. This week I'll call for an appointment at Fonazrelli's (auto repair) up here in Sussex, NJ. I'll let you know as soon as I find out. I'm guessing that if there are bulbs, they must be able to be replaced, but of course it might be something else.

On my 2002 T-Bird the dealer said bulbs could not be replaced. But that is not true. They can be replaced. I took mine apart and replaced bulbs. It is a very tedious job but if your a detail person like me and have small tools, workbench with a lighted magnifying glass it can be done. One check to do to determine the failure is- is it just the cluster lights out or is the door window switches, lock switches and shift console light out too? If all those are out it’s probably the front body module located in the drivers kick panel. If only part of the cluster is out then it probably has some burned out bulbs. Been there and done that. Yes the bulbs in the cluster can be replaced at least on my 2002. They are mini bulbs that are 2 different sizes. I had some in my tool box because they use the same bulbs in late 80’s thru 2005 BMW 3 series clusters.

Doc, I, TYMLESS, started a thread titled "replacement parts obsolete" that stemmed from not having the dash gauges illuminated. If your topic puts you in the pink, could you please give me a heads up. I don't know how to link our topics. Thanks. Thanks, TYMLESS

Of course, Barb. I'll post it here and send you a PM. However, I'm sorry but I won't know for a few weeks because my Ford extended warranty expired, so I purchased an AAA one, which has a waiting period. In a couple of weeks, I'll bring my car over to Fonzarelli's. They somehow find parts for me. And sorry to hear that you have the same problem. I hope we'll both get good news, whether it's bulbs or modules! Let's hope they're available!

Saw your post and called AAA. They told me they don't provide extended warranties???? Any idea where I could get one?Alexander Hamilton started the U.S. Treasury with nothing, and that was the closest our country has ever been to being even. Will Rogers

Hi, David,
I believe they're called Extended Warranty Plans or Extended Service Plans, something like this. They have different plans ranging from silver and gold to platinum with differing length options like two years, four years. They're not cheap, but I feel better having one since my car will soon be 16 years old. Here's their number: (800) 323-4300. Or you can Google them by looking for AAA used car warranties. Their website should pop-up. Hope this helps!
