  • 2002 Driver's Side Smooth Brushed Aluminum door OEM door trim panels

Folks, this is my first time to use this forum since recently acquiring an '02 yellow Thunderbird...and, of course, I have been actively looking for a few parts one of which seems to be eluding all my efforts to locate...that being: the driver's side, smooth, brushed Aluminum Door OEM Door Trim Panel. If anyone knows of or can part with said item, please contact this NEWBY here as I am just getting used to haveing a forum about the cars...or contact me at the following email: tbirdjim@bellsouth.net

You need to be looking for a good complete used door trim panel. From what I see, it would be difficult to replace just the aluminum panel.
By the way welcome to TBN.

Jim, There are many Retros that are wrecks on E Bay. Even if they are advertising another part , I would try contacting them via the e bay message system"Contact Seller"
Some wrecking yards won't sell the door panel without the door, so be prepared for that negative response

It is not difficult to replace just the trim panel, I have done it twice.

Assuming yours has some scratches in it I suspect it could just be clear coated and look great again. Nothing to loose.

Several members have replaced the aluminum trim over the years. Here's another link as to how

Thanks to you all for responding...and yes, I have already realized this is going to be difficult...I suspect the previous owner released the seat belt and let it fly backward hitting the aluminum many, many times over the years causing slight dents...I did it myself twice before I realized what was happening. James, do you still want these part(s)? It's OK if you don't. I responded to you November 4th with payment details but don't know if you saw it as the "new" TBN doesn't alert you to PMs.

To Quickdraw in IN: Yes, I do want the parts, however this forum does not help a whole lot in getting messages between people. Hopefully you will see this...as I do want the brushed aluminum parts you say you have. Please give me a call at: 615-479-9505 or drop an e-mail at: tbirdjim@bellsouth.net

You must have a different PM system than I have... I do not get a notification of a PM like we used to the first time we refresh the screen upon visiting this site.. I rarely get a email message that someone has sent a PM . I also see no way to reply to a PM, I have to send a new message each time. That's what I did with James and he apparently also has difficulty communicating via PM. I usually have a window tab open to TBN 24 hours a day but rarely think to click on the messages icon to see if someone has sent a new PM. I just now noticed I have build date request from November 9...

The message system works more like email now than it did before. If you look beside your screen name at the top of any page you'll see the word Messages. If there are new messages to check there will be a number beside the word in a red box. Click on the messages tab to see the messages. The neat thing is you not only get PM alerts, you also get alerts if someone quotes you in a thread or replies to a thread you started.

When you receive a PM from someone. Click on the title of the PM. The message will open up. Below the message will be a box to post a reply in. Type your reply message and click Post. That's all there is to it.

The new system is different from the "old days", but in a lot of ways it is better, once you get the hang of its nuances.

OK, I was clicking on the red messages box, then going to my PMs where I could read the PMs, but was there no way to reply to the messages I could read. I now see that I have to click on the red message box, and then click on the SUBJECT to see another screen where I could read and reply. Something still isn't right, I can open another new window and click on the red message box, and my most recent PM does NOT appear. Whats that about?
