  • STUFFED T-BIRD UPDATE (the hat)

If you have viewed my previous Stuffie post you may recall my wish to add a "badge" to T-bird's chest. Unable to decide on a method (tape, paint, sharpie etc) I have wandered thru the wilderness for weeks. But this story is about the HAT and it's former owner.

Wife and I are at a rehab center to visit a car buddy. Already in the room are his neighbors - couple with 3 small children. Soon after introductions and greetings neighbors prepare to leave when Father/Husband dons his cap and . . . Carol and I are stunned to see our vision materialize! He's wearing a Tampa Bay baseball cap. Seemingly confused by our excitement we carefully explain to the poor guy why we're so animated at the sight of his cap and now we have a source for completing our project - where upon he removes the cap and INSISTS that we take his. He absolutely would not take "no thanks" for an answer saying he was a coach for several baseball teams and had plenty of caps. How nice. We surgically remove the TB logo, shaved Bird's chest with mustache trimmer and attached with RTV.

And, this is/was not a cheap hat, but an MLB authorized cap and virtually new. Now contemplating an appropriate Christmas gift for Buddy to give Neighbor in appreciation.

It's been great fun to read the continuing adventures of the TBird, congratulations on the "aha" moment. It's probably just as well it was given to you, or the poor guy might have had a rectangular hole in his forehead from the TBirdectomy. Now you can send him on trips, like Flat Stanley.

Thanks, Richard. I believe that it's important that we explore the "softer" side of this hobby.
