  • Nice Drive

We live near San Antonio TX so when I need a dentist I go down to Progresso Mexico. I have been going to the same dentist for several years and like the trip to the small boarder town, we took the 02 Torch Red Thunderbird, almost 600 miles round trip. The car ran great and was a lot of fun. If only a little warmer so I could have put the top down. I ran between 75 and 80 mph and still got 23 mpg. I don't usually drive that fast but need to make a one day trip. Great cars to enjoy, Made a trip into SA today and put the top down and enjoyed the sun and warmer temps, sorry you Northern folks just one of the perks of having all those HOT summer days. We have a much milder winter. Gotta love TEXAS.

That's a long day trip, George, but one you can sink your teeth into. It reminds me of the headline: "Dentist given plaque by community".

Good to hear someone is enjoying their car this time of the year. Did you drive your car into Mexico or park in the US and walk across?

The best thing about a Mexican dentist is that you can get pain medicine by the kilo.

Sounds like a good chance to take some nice pics for future TOTM entries.

Yesterday started the retro up & put the top down , turned on the heater, started the projector and watched an old route 66 show. It was a mild day here in 36 degree Idaho...

              LOL

Greg, not a problem, just give the Policeman $5 (that was 1973 price adjust for inflation!) to ensure your car would be there after visiting the...............................

Bill the robos have a 'plant' on border that send a text to the 'gang' down the road in Mexico of what's coming through. I've even seen them use burning ropes across the road..Black beauty would be gone inside 5 miles

We've traveled there extensively, and I totally agree. We were with some American guest hosts in Nayarit back in 1989 and were cautioned as to the behavior not only from gangs but also "officials". While driving home, our American host was pulled over by the Federales...he and his team watched them like hawks as they tore apart the car as he was afraid they'd plant drugs.

We always walk across. We are going down to Baja Mexico with our 5th wheel and truck in Feb. for about a month. The Thunderbird will have to stay home here in TX. We went to San Felipe last year and camped on the Sea of Cortez for a month. Always go with a group of several campers and never had a problem. We belong to a RV club called Escapees and they have been going for over 20 years. Try it you might like it
