  • What would your choice be ?

O K,, You are in the market for another retro. You find two in equal condition and a color acceptable to you. One is a 2002 with 8650 miles not a NM. The other is a limited edition with a well documented history but has 56240 miles on it of another year.Which would you be most interested in at same price.? Both one owner.

Year and color of the limited edition would have to be considered as well as the color of the 2002. Location of both cars also a consideration. Either ever had any body damage or other Mother Nature damage. (FLOOD etc).

I would go with the later model year even though the mileage is higher. The higher mileage indicated to me that the car has been driven keeping all of its fluids in motion, fans & other motors ie. windows, soft top, steering column, AC. & etc operational. I would prefer this instead of a car that received little time being operational.

Also there are a few changes between the years of production that make the later years(2003-05) a better choice in my opinion.

Wow, Interesting responses. One guy says more info needed, one guy says 2002 and the third says the later model.

Ron is this a hypothetical question or someone's real choice ?

I will not be alive enough to want to worry about how much I drive the car. low mileage car COULD be worth $$ some day but only if miles kept low.
I would rather have one that I can drive when I want and show it off not worrying about how many miles I put on it or any added accessories ect..but then again I am a driver not a colector.
            figured I needed something here

                  We know.

I’ll stick with my 007 at 16,000 miles.

                    That is a dilemma.

As a relatively recent buyer of a 10,000 mile 2006 Jaguar, I can tell you I have felt really guilty seeing that odometer surpassing the 20,000 mile mark in the short time I have had it . Additionally, I did pass up a super low mileage NM because I wanted to drive my Thunderbird. I knew I would just end up storing something that rare with such low miles.

If you were suggesting 2003 vs a newer model the answer would be easier. The 2002 model has unique things commending it for some and lessening its attractiveness for others.

Low miles always tug my heart though.

Less miles = less use. Less times the doors have been opened, the seats slid across, the starter worked, the shocks compressed, the top raised. Lots of less-es which make for a big plus.

I'd have a favorite in mind and then take my mechanic to both vehicles for a once-over. Based upon his recommendation re: which car he's buy for his daughter (!) I'd lean that way. If all else is equal, why take an unnecessary chance when somebody better 'in the know' can help tile the playing field a bit more in my direction if need be. If he say's they are both the same, I'd take the one with less miles!

Bill I agree....for example I'm not a fan of the PCR. I'd take a mint green

I already chimed in but now thinking more.
It depends on the price is the o2 way underpriced or is the other one way overpriced? even if evenly away from each respective value the smart way would be the 02. If you like the 02 then its a great deal as you could keep it or if like me you would prefer a driver then buy the 02 sell it and get another one this would save money in the long run

Lower mileage! That way, you can fix all the same problems all over again!!
And yes...I have fixed most of them.

I like low mileage cars, I'm probably going to need to spend a bunch of money on either one for required repairs so I prefer to do it on one with low miles
