  • Rear Side Marker Lights

Basic question for the group regarding my new '05. The rear side marker lights don't come on at all. The front side marker ones light up with the headlight switch, but I can't find any setting in which the rears are lit. I replaced both bulbs, no effect. The owners manual's only reference to them describes how to replace the bulb.

    Any thoughts? Thanks!

Bet your rear license lamp isn't on either.

Check fuse F4.02 located in the Battery Junction Box which is under the lift out floor panel of the trunk.

If this fuse is good then you may have a wiring problem, maybe as simple as a bad or open connection in the harness.

Worst case is the Rear Electronic Module

very helpful, thank you! You're correct about the license lamp being out, hadn't noticed that. Fuse F4.02 is good so i'll move on to checking the harness. It's had a replacement rear bumper put on at some point, I imagine this is related to that event.

Replaced rear bumper is a major clue to your situation. The wire harness that connects left side, right side is tucked up in between bumper & frame. I recommend you remove the hard black plastic rear trunk liner. The one with the emergency pull handle, those 5 or 6 button like fasterns pull up with a small flat blade,
and start your trouble shooting in that area.
Could be when bumper was replaced the wire was reconnected.
