Aftermarket axle shaft?

Has anyone had any luck with going aftermarket for T-Bird axle shafts?

It would cost about the same for an a shiny aftermarket, over a rusted original shaft at the scrapyard.

Ben, curious as to why you are seeking the axle shaft, I have been working on a rear driver side noise from the wheel assembly. Wonder what kind of issue you had that is making you change the axle?

Ben, curious as to why you are seeking the axle shaft, I have been working on a rear driver side noise from the wheel assembly. Wonder what kind of issue you had that is making you change the axle?

Well my drums were seized, so I took an angle grinder after a torch and sledge hammer did not work. Cut up my original axle on accident, so had to find another replacement which I finally did.

This was the original shaft below, a friend told me it was essential to replace the wheel bearings on an axle shaft this old. Not sure how accurate that is.

Yes you will want to replace the bearings. Maybe the seal in the housing as well.
