Wow, the car really paid off in mileage. I have never and maybe never will hit over 200k with a car. I just could not love or trust a car with such high mileage. One owner that had pure love, guts and a whole lot of luck to get it there. Then again who knows why he has given up on it now, I would think 250k would be achievable!Honor the sacrifices our predecessors paid for our country.

Warning on a WW craigslist ad with 50K miles asking $6,000. I requested more info (assuming it was a salvage car) and they wanted my email address, car is in a different location, she lives in yet another location, etc., etc.. Red flags including a long sob story and asking to use ebay motor service to complete the transaction. The way this works is they send you an email link that looks like it's from eBay, but it isn't, that's why they need your email address because CL would probably block it as a known scam.

with both rapidly approaching 200,000 miles, I doubt there will be many takers.Originally posted by BLACK BEAUTY View PostOr this bargain https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...delCode1=TBIRD Here we go https://milwaukee.craigslist.org/ctd...523110118.html

I have a 2002 Torch Red T Bird that rolled 146,000 miles today. I left home near San Antonio TX and drove to Progresso. I parked walked across the border into Mexico for a while and drove home. 590 Miles round trip, I drove between 75 and 80 mph and averaged 22 mpg. The car uses no oil runs great and drives great. I do keep up with the maint. on the car. There is nothing wrong with a car with some miles on it in my opinion. I bought this thing to enjoy and that is what I do. I know it is not worth much on resale with the miles on it but I don't want to sell it. I hope every one enjoys theirs.

My guess is that each time the car overheated, for whatever reason, parts broke and when replaced they changed and flushed the coolant in the system. I went through the same thing between 85,000 and 95,000 miles, First the Fan motor, then a hose broke, and finally the dreaded pipe that goes under the intake manifold. Jaguar design sometimes creates new issues that other Fords don't have.Originally posted by Quickdraw View PostLooking at the maintenance report in the Carfax was interesting... not much on the first 100,000 miles but they had theAntifreeze/coolant flushed/changed at 147k, 178k, and 199k.sigpic

I've seen over 240k miles on a 2001 or 2002 LIncoln LS. Just leaked some oil. Had to replace the valve cover gaskets and oil filter adapter seal/gasket. Look at any late model car and the cooling systems are plastic. That's the biggest reason for unreliability and more money won't buy more reliability. Drive it and don't worry. Just get the plastic replaced at some point in the life of vehicle. I have 246k miles on my 96 Mark Viii and drive it 90 miles every day to work. Finally have a front wheel bearing start to make noise.
