  • Suspension overhauling on '02 Bird

Well, its time for a new project. My '02 has the original shocks, and i think a overhaul is needed. I bought a complete set of KYB shocks and top plates. Tomorrow begins the fun. Once completed, i'll get a 4 wheel alignment done... all the other stuff, sway bar links,etc.. have been replaced. Hope these shocks are similar ride as factory ones... wish me luck !

Good luck Xavier. I looked far and wide for the 'best' struts. I ended up with 06 LS/Sport shocks. They have not been available for about 5 years now..I also added a 1" spacer on the rear...

Well, started well, got the rear driver side done, started the front driver side, when i realized the coil spriang was broken.... impossible to find locally. After searching, Tahunderbird specialties has them, but very expensive... i think i will go for the aftermarket lowering set, its cheaper and quality seems ok. German built, not the made in china crap. Now just ahave to add 25% to the U.S price, not easy being Canadian... lol

Tbear,, will let you know how it works out, confort, handling, etc

Greg, wish i had acess to some LS parts,, hard to come by here in Quebec...

        cheers !

UPDATE: well, job completed. Replacing the upper control arms were not easy. The bolt on driver side toward the brake master cylinder was the worst to get to.. it is situated where you cannot get to. Took a lot of patience . Both front coil springs were broken. So now basically, everything apart the lower ball joints have been replaced. Took me 2 evenings to do. Now, booking an appointment for a 4 wheel alIIgnment. DiD a short road test, it now handles like Its on rails. And retaIning a smooth ride still....

I bought a set of the LS sport struts less than a year ago

I had several people ask where I got them from, it was actually a little over a year ago from Tasca Ford, I believe it was these:

Thanks. I guess it's the rear ones that are hard to find.
