I searched thru other posts, could not find an answer to my question. What is the total number of Retro's produced by ford, and what were produced each year. I was recently given 68,098 as the total, but this seems to me to be very low. Someone must know the answer.

Pretty sure you can find your answer on portholeauthority.com. Dot has statistics by year, color, interiors, etc. For example there were over 31,000 produced in 2002 and barely over 9,000 produced in 2005.

Your number sounds close with about half being 2002. Look in the tech forum here as well under database.

Harry, that pretty much tells the story of why there was no 2006 MY.

The difference between 2002 and 2003 is misleading... they basically made the 2002's for 20 months and only 8 months for the 2003, - the 2002 was built four months longer than planned due to problems getting the new variable valve timing engine for 2003.

If Ford had the new engine availability and was able to change over to 2003 production beginning July 2002 as planned the numbers would be:
2002 = 21,741
2003 = 24,305
2004 = 12,757
2005 = 9,295

Interesting information, It would make the 2002's much more rare and some of the colors with a better mix.

After reading I have 1 of 9295 2005"s I got the wax out and put a coat on. Spring is poping in Vegas. I took the hard top off. Put the BRA on for the first time ever, getting ready for the cruise to Williams Az. Take the train trip to the Grand Canyon. Life is good.

Originally the plan was for 100,000 in 4 year time span but sales slowed down for all of the makes of US Autos after 9/11 and the beginning stages of the recession. For us outsiders looking in thru the internet during those production years, we did have access to sales figures from Ford and production stats from another site. The figures are correct.
