I would tend agree with Gene on the fluids but with the comment that if the car is going to be kept as a low mileage, gently used car, for the rest you could probably save money by waiting until the various problems come up. I have an '04 with 125k miles bought new. The first 100k the car was a daily driver, driven often. I had nearly all the failures known to the nest website in the first 100k. After that I began treating the car like an old lady. I have a mechanic I trust and have had virtually no repairs in the last 6 years with the 25k gentle miles I have added. I have replaced seals that were beginning to leak. Arizona is a dry state, after all. Depending on where one lives here, batteries take a heat beating. My main concern is getting the parts I will need as things do fail, especially in the modular areas. I have never been able to repair the "auto" part of the AC and do not use the dual setting in the winter but turn off the AC and use the floor/dash setting and set the passenger side 10 degrees or more higher than the driver side.

I have 3 retro birds an 03, 04, 05 all had under 13,000 miles when I bought them. One had 625 miles when I purchased it in 2014. Idrove it home from Florida and put on 1,00 miles with no problems. Only problem I ever had with an 03 that I sold were the coils

Greg, the only unsolvable problem I have had with this car has been the miserable dealer service.....it is the Midas touch in reverse, you know, everything it touches turns to sh+t. Anyhow, when the air conditioning began to act up I took it to the dealer who messed around with it, claimed it was fixed. It wasn't. The passenger side would not put out heat in the winter.....summer worked fine. The dealer couldn't fix it saying, as usual, the module was not working and there were no modules available. Of course I didn't believe them and considered this one of the last straws dealing with these bozos.....so.....I found a genius mechanic who has done wonders with every failure of the dealer. I have detailed this elsewhere. In the end, my mechanic did find the module someplace and replaced it. After replacement the AC works as intended in the summer but in the winter, the only way to get heat on the passenger side is to turn off the auto setting and set the output for feet and face, turn the driver side to ca 72 and the passenger at 80. Then it works fine. I wish it was perfect but the car is 14 years old. I have never kept a car anywhere near this long or with so many miles. I know things wear out and one has to put up with the downside.....I had open heart surgery but like the old bird, still moving.
