  • Bad experience with buying from a Thunderbird site

    Hello Friends,
This post is not about bashing and ranting about people, but JUST WANT TO WARN innocent folks with a passion of Ford Thunderbirds, like i have, about certain dishonest practices of suppliers who are also members on the Nest. I recently overhauled my complete suspension , and upon removing my front coils, noticed both front were broken. Since the dealer no longer manufacturers these, my next option was to buy a set of H&R from
"Thunderbird Specialties" . Once ordered and payed through Paypal, i received an e mail from Philip Wegener, saying they were not in stock, and would find out leed time to fabricate in Germany and ship. He also mentioned if i didn't want to wait, he would refund me. I decided to wait a day, hoping i would get them quickly. Our summer season here in Quebec is short, and didn't want to ride the car only in the fall. He then got back to me with a waiting period, which i didn't like. I messaged him asking for a refund, and mentioned i will look into used parts if i had to, since i install them myself, replacing them again next winter while in storage wouldn't bother me. He started ranting about how i shouldn't install used parts, etc.. he agreed to refund my purchase on paypal, and mentioned it might take up to 10 days to receive. After a month of waiting, i emailed him, but no reply. Finally filed a claim with Paypal , with sending copies of our e mails, to finally winning my case, and getting full refund.
personally, i've bought thousands of dollars worth of parts off suppliers on the web, and never experienced a dishonest person like Mr. Wegener. Never will he ever see me as a client again. Its a shame it had to come to that. BUYERS BEWARE ! By the way,A week later, i found the same set of H&R coils on e bay, for $100 cheaper . They are installed and working out great.

This is my opinion of this person and his business, it my not be yours, and i respect that.

    Cheers !

This should bring comments pro and con. While I have never had bad dealings with Mr. Wegener regarding quality or delivery, I have posted more than once about what I feel were exorbitant pricing policies.

He still lurks here under what sign-in I do not know. He did respond to me by e-mail regarding one post I made regarding pricing.

I do believe that before I ordered anything from Thunderbird Specialties, I would CALL to ensure availability before ordering and paying!

I recently ordered the chrome wheel well pieces from CARID, for Baby Blue. They charged my Paypal then informed me that the parts were on a 3-4 week back order. When I called and told them I was unhappy having them charge me for a back order and cancel the order. They then offered me a 40% discount that went through paypal in a day or so.

There is Jim and I'm not sure whether you were on the e mail Bill and I received. There are clearly a few facts left out of post #1.

The part of the story that sounds suspicious to me is that it was only $100. cheaper on eBay. Ric, since this is now the Tbird court of law, unless you were involved in the transaction any testimony you provide would be considered "hearsay" and is inadmissible.

Seeing Gobird as the most recent post to this thread, I was expecting this thread to be closed. Why pile on? Do the right thing and just close it. The point has been made already.

I think threads only get closed when they run counter to his opinion.
