  • I don't know how so many of you do it! (keep low miles on bird that is)

I find it amazing how a number of you here keep your miles so low, I just bought mine in December with 86,000 miles and have put 3,000 miles on it, to me that is low as I also have an RSX and a Rav4 to drive and also a motorcycle. I figured I could save on insurance and keep total under 7500 per year, but I think I am going to have to change it back.I'm guessing it will be over 100,000 this time next year.It is too fun to drive to let it sit .I guess part of it is where I live, even in winter we have good days so it never would get winterized and parked. also summer really never gets all that hot either.
I do know this is not EVERYONE
    figured I needed something here

145K+ and it has never been a daily driver. I do agree that it would be extremely difficult to just look the car for all of th these years and not go all of the fun places we have been in it.

With our winter weather, my baby is 'stored' from Nov to May so she's not even getting on the road for 5 months a year. That helps the odometer readings but I' d rather be driving her. I just don't want to subject her to the Ontario Roads in the winter time! I did, however enjoy driving her last summer to the tune of about 5K kilometers....

I see lifers like Paul and Spence the road event travelers sporting 130k or more. Here I am with a summer driver that will hit 100k in the next oil change. Guess I drive some..now Baby Blue will get some well deserved miles in her native Florida...the real question comes in a couple of years when we move to the Sunshine State..which car to keep?

Easy, Greg. Use one to drive and the other for a lawn ornament. Better bird than a pink flamingo!

Hard to put a lot of miles on a car that spends half it's days at the dealership getting repairs. So I sold it-02 with 56,500 miles.

I've got 174000 miles ... ALL fun and smiles. Cars are meant to be driven. The retro Birds are really great cars once you start enjoying the ride instead of worrying about adding miles. Everything breaks at some point, just fix it and keep going.
Unbelivable TBN trips including ALL of the lower 48 States plus 9 Canadian Provinces, 8 European Countries, 3 Caribbean Countries, Countless National Parks and have attended well over 100 TBN Events since 2001 and counting. Best of all ... fabulous friends.

                  100,000 + miles vs 28,000. a easy choice IMHO.

Very simple answers in my case.

                        1) Wife does not like to just go for a ride.
                        2) Wife will never ride in a car with the top down, which includes my Galaxie
                        3) Riding solo up and down the same local streets/roads/highways/interstates became boring quickly
                        4) Car shows/cruise nights are for my Galaxie
                        5) Roads in NJ, especially north Jersey, are overcrowded, loaded with potholes, and filled with idiots.
                        6) And, we have winter.

But, it's gotten to the point that when I take the car to the local post office, I'll usually get a "nice car". comment. (Sometimes I wonder if they know it's a 2003 and not a 55/56/57.)

                        Present mileage: under 25K.

My 2003 had 75,500 on it, about 5,000 per year. It was my daily driver, but since I am retired I find that I am driving less and less. Last year I only put about 2,500 miles on it. We were cruising and visiting my son in Bangkok for 5 weeks and it spent about 2 weeks in the shop with thermostat and heater valve repairs. Ratio-ing up I would have had 3,000 miles for a 12 months driving.

Last owner put 80 miles a year on the 2005 according to car-fax. I've taken it on some small trips. Last night took it out for Ice Cream. Fantastic night in Vegas. Now its all clean and covered in the Garage. It's all ready for the monthly T-Bird dinner on May 19th. I love to drive it so it doesn't bother me that the miles are going on it now. 13 years old and OD reads 31000+
