Location depends on which vents are affected. There are 3 different ones. If it's the venting just above radio, you could probably get to it by pulling radio. These are plastic parts and the actuator has a spindle (thingy) that moves the blend door. I'm having problems with that same thing (fortunately under warranty) but an activator won't help as I guess it broke the blend door. Hoping you have better luck. Techs are going to have to pull dash to try to either fix the whole unit or send it out to be fixed IF anyone in the world knows how to fix this.

New to the group. 2005 Tbird Anniversary….
My AC switches to heat after about 20 min (not always) drivers side at 69 degrees it stays cold longer, then turn on dual at same and air comes out really hot on passenger side (AC on) With drivers side at 69, then I turn up passenger side to 80 from 69 and get warm air but not really hot like when at 69 degrees. Turn defrost on and dash gets hot but windshield is cold. Turned AC off and still cold coming out. It is a crap shoot every time I use it but usually one side or the other is hot with AC on. Mechanic who took dash apart could not figure it out and then told me he broke the blend door and pinned it open and closed up the dash again LOL (I think he told me it was the passenger side he broke) He said it would only recirculate the air not fresh air once he pinned it open.
I am thinking to take the dash off myself this time and replace any actuators that I see broken. Any advise? Novice. Don’t want to take to dealership and after the last guy broke the blend door and did not replace the part, not interested in taking it back. Two other mechanics did not want to tackle it. Apparently 5 blend doors and could be something else entirely but since I know blend door is broken, might as well start there.
Also are all the blend door actuators the same or are there different part numbers/configurations? Thanks for your help

Why was he looking at the blend door? Had he already checked the heating control valve? Its up at the right front of the engine and much easier to check than almost anything under the dash.this valve controls the flow to the left and rt side of the dash. The antifreeze(coolant) flows thru it,so ia very susepable to sticking if that fluid isn't changed periodicly.
Its avaiable many places, since it a common part in that era Ford product(about 80 bucks). I found them to be cleanable if you do your own work and you can save some$$.
