  • Hertz Thunderbird "Autolamps"

Harry, when you ran the Vin for my sons 2003 you discovered that the car was purchased by Hertz. I didn't realize until recently that the car has "autolamps" (headlights come on whenever you start the car). I'm guessing you would need the build sheet to know, but I'm curious if you think they ordered it from the factory that way. According to the attached it looks like you can control it from the FEM. Also wonder if any of these module repair guys could change the programming to include autolamps.

Could it be a Canadian version?

Or could it be the switch is set to the right to come on in low light and it is the switch or it's sensor that is bad

        Brad,
I do have the build sheet data but that specific feature is buried under one of the general "codes" used on the build sheet, Like for instance a "B" in the interior accent package column tells me that unit gets the Black Accent package but doesn't tell me what specifically makes up that package (painted steering wheel & shift knob). For the Order Type column there are 11 designations that simply say FLEET. I'm guessing each of those 11 "fleet" codes is configured differently. The code "L" is almost exclusively used for Hertz units for Order Type and the code letter "W" is almost exclusively used for Hertz units under Special Build Control Codes.

To answer the question I thought you were headed to, no, I can not tell what vehicles got the auto lamp feature.

While investigating this I discovered that there were 98 2002-2005s built with the "Show Car Treatment" but no indication what that entails.
