Chrome T-Bird Wheels- COST TO BUY-COST TO CHROME-WHERE AVAILABLE

I've investigated a set of 21 spoke wheels that I've wanted to have chromed for myself. I think from conversation with members that Steve Nelson, Dave Egan, and Ted Sturgeon are also interested and certainly there will be others.

Any body have an input that can help us all out with making good decision?

My person who has chromed more that one set for me just quoted $750 up from the $450-$500 he previously charged. Rules him out for me at first thought. Dave advised that his guy in Texas quoted $800 so maybe my guy isn't off much. Steve said that Detroit Wheel quoted $399 per wheel or almost $1600 but acquiring the wheels was on them in that price and they'd pay the freight. Might not be bad!!!! Ted any luck in Canada? Hoping you were the member that bought the set Martin Brugmans had a lead on. Any luck on getting a chroming quote in Canada? (Please report in real dollars not those loonies and toonie plastic money you use--guess that's a bad attempt at humor!) Please convert to US$ for comparison purposes.

Surely there are many here that can contribute useful info on this thread. Thanks to all in advance.

Back in '06 I bought a complete set of the painted 21 spoke wheels for $160. Immediately sent them to Paul's Chrome Plating in Evans City, PA. He did all four at a cost of $1080 including shipping. They still look just as good 12 years later.

Many vendors have left the industry as stricter environmental regulations came into effect. Some of the increase comes from complying with the regs and some comes less competition.

Dino from experience with Paul's chrome in another life (another car) I have to agree with you that their work is outstanding. Now that was $1080 12 years ago. After getting my 16 spokes done, I was looking for a source to chrome the center caps. They were close enough for me to drive. Their number was staggeringly high. Maybe someone looking for a set can make a legitimate inquiry.

Bill, Bought my 21 spoke wheels from L.A. Wheels after a long search. Alan or Steve can give you prices talked to them about chroming my 16 spoke said about 200.00 a wheel + freight. What i understand is they would send me shipping tags to send them my wheels and when finished would return them don't know what freight cost is depends on where. My cost was 25.00 per wheel one way

I would love to have a chromed set of 24 spoke wheels. Or just the machined finish.

You may want to inquire at powdercoaters in your area , many offer a very chrome looking finish in powder or ceramic coating .

Gene check these guys out. I came to realize that they only sell the powder. Their site shows various rims. Their 'super chrome' appears to need a clear cote on top. My 16 spokes are powder coated white and a bitch to keep clean. But, chrome would be nice
