Re: Daily Driver or Klassic Keeper

My Bird is used only for pleasureable cruises in the evening and on week ends.
I am searching out a garage. I only have a driveway. I cover it all the time in the driveway. Prices for storage run $350 per month heated/air conditioned. I cant afford that. Wish I had a garage. My son in law says he would build me a car port in the driveway if I want. I am contemplating that as an alternative.......

I drive mine just about anytime there is no danger in having it banged up in parking lots. Weather for me plays a huge factor. I don't like washing cars. The Thunderbird, I will keep in a 'like new' condition as long as I can, and I have a sacrificial truck in which to do my daily commuting.

Garaged all winter, but used regardless of weather all season. Just drove my MSG 0ver 2K in the last week here to PA and Back.

I'm a user, not a collector. I drive it daily because I love it.
The only time I drive our other car (2001 Lincoln Towncar) is when I need a rear seat/truck space.

Though my '03 MSG comes out very little in the nasty central Ohio winter weather (only when the roads are dry), we make up for that inactivity when the weather is nice. The odometer just turned 20,000 about a week ago - so just about 10,000 a year - and that's all pleasure driving. No door dings yet. We've actually changed shopping or dining plans on the spur of the moment depending on whether a parking spot is available that meets my approval. Usually that mean a large end spot with plenty of door clearance and also one which I can see from my seat in the restaurant.
We stayed at two B&Bs on a recent vacation at which the owners put their own vehicles in the driveway so I could put the Bird in their garage overnight and leave the top down. My wife was actually embarassed that I even asked for this favor - but I did and would again.

Re: Daily Driver or Klassic Keeper

I've had mine only for five weeks now, two of which had me working away from home, so I haven't had it long enough to say what I usually do with it, except to say that I drive it whenver I can! I just got the top off this weekend, and took my first evening topless cruise last night... very nice! I drive it to work and back; the parking lot in front of our building is used only by people at my company, and my co-workers know that if they ding, I'll have to kill them. Last week, I had to work downtown for a few days; I don't trust those parking garages, so I took my trusty old '91 Ply. Laser, which is still in great shape, but does have a couple of dings. Nebraska winters can be a little on the harsh side, so I plan to garage my bird for the winter.

              Cheers,

              Kevin

Our MMM, is kinda a daily driver. Unless its grocerys or a dumprun, or now a family trek, that's when the Magnum comes into play. But she is definately pampered too.

I bought Ladybird to drive and I do love driving her, every chance I get. Rain or shine makes no difference to me!

I'm not sure how to vote on this one...didn't really see a category that fit me. I've only had "Goldilocks" for 2 months, and I'm not sure about winter yet...I'm in the Keys then, and not sure if she's going with us! Right now I only drive her about 2-3 times a week, max 20-30 miles, top down, sun up...never in the dark. She's a very protected species. "Klassic Keeper" for sure.

Re: Daily Driver or Klassic Keeper

CARTOY has primarily been driven to TBN events, or related tours since I bought BabyGirl ('57 Thunderbird) last November. Three out of four of the Clubs/Forum I belong to focus on the older cars, so I drive the '57 more. Both the Thunderbirds are "toys", and my daily driver is a '94 Lincoln Town Car.

Sam your work at a dealership, bet good used units come in all the time
that could pick up for little or nothing and keep the TBird for special outings

Drive it from time to time, regardless of weather.
3,400 or so miles since April 2003.

Not a daily driver but used for most any driving that's for fun or long distance now which usually means a TBN event or other car event but also for just going out for dinner or a local drive so I really didn't find a poll answer to fit.
