Those were the days....mid 50's to early 60's. I wouldn't want to start all over. Waiting for a taxi to the airport...on to Orlando and Baby Blue. Jane is talking more about selling Minnesota. So glad Walker is this year. Just having our roof shoveled off this winter is costing us a grand!

Yes, we were lucky, and we learned the meaning of the word "responsibility".

I would save my tips from my paper route and the 50 cents a day (one hour's work, summertime only) that I got for picking up cigarette butts at a miniature golf course. I'd put the money in a jar, and, eventually, I had $250 to buy my first car in 1959. I parked it on the street and sat in it every night for a month until I hit age 17.

After dinner, as a little kid, I went to the blackboard that my dad hung on a door, took a piece of chalk, and drew cars. I drew a very good front view, 54 Caddy. I could also play with clothespins. Or, Mom and I would play board or card games.

Once we got a TV, I was allowed to stay up till 9:30 on (I think) Monday (school night) to watch "I Love Lucy", "The Honeymooners" on Saturday night, and Ed Sullivan on Sunday night.

And, let's not overlook "I Remember Mama", "The Life of Riley", Red Skelton, Red Buttons, Sid Caesar/Imogene Coca's "Your Show of Shows", "Rocky King Detective" with Roscoe Karns, and all the western shows.

              Plus, "Lights Out"

I agree with all the above posts. I don't live in the past but I do keep enough of it alive to give me balance in my life.

Pretty sure that's not a pedal car. Looks like a battery powered Thunderbird Junior. They were a promotional device at dealerships when the car debuted in the fifties. A nice example will be at least $3,000. I will eventually be posting a Tee Bird pedal car for sale. It needs a full restoration and will be much less.

...thanks for the info. Kids are grown so need for one at this time (besides hubby needs me to get rid of stuff)... but I am sure someone out there would love a restoration project.
