I just bought a 2002 T-bird with 58,000 miles on the clock. It is in very good condition....triple black with the hard top. Downside it has a rebuilt title. Carfax said it was hit in 2005 and the guy I got it from had it fixed and has driven it problem-free since. I have gone over the car pretty closely and I cannot find any signs of damage and it drives perfectly, so I guess it was repaired properly. I thought long and hard about buying a "rebuilt title" car but he had it priced at about half what the book shows, so I went for it. It needs a coil replaced and the water control valve for the heater isn't working right. Goes in the shop tomorrow for those things. Other than that, I have no regrets. I love to drive it and I find the ride to be very comfortable, which is a pleasant surprise for a 2 seater. I'm looking forward to cruising it this summer.

Welcome Michael, sure hope you become an active participant here. An event is being planned on Thunderbird Appreciation Day on May 19th within 175 miles of you. Consider coming and meeting some of the T-Bird renegades who travel great lengths for these events.Bill Coates-Canfield, Ohio

Michael welcome, if you are having one coil changed you might as well think of having the whole side done or even doing both at the same time. Once the coil covers are removed they will have easy access to the coils and well the plugs too. Most of the labor time is spent on removing the covers.Honor the sacrifices our predecessors paid for our country.

The only real downside of a "salvage" title is when it is still under a factory warranty. And there are no 2002-2005 Thunderbirds that would still be under a new car warranty, so enjoy. My daughter had a Nissan Altima that was totaled due to hail damage but otherwise was a great used car... until the CVT transmission crapped out! It was out of warranty from time too.sigpic

Welcome from Texas. I'm new here as well. I must say the folks at TBN are very helpful, and quite nice. If you have a question, just ask. Someone here will have an answer. Many have jumped in and helped me. It's an awesome group.

The IG I bought a couple months ago, Michael, had been sideswiped a couple years ago, but damage was minimal and repair was first rate - so good that there was no evidence of any accident damage during inspection. Plus a clean, perfect title.
Enjoy your ride and welcome to TBN.

Michael, congrats on your new toy. If the repairs were done well, you got a great deal and you are planning to keep and drive the car then the salvaged title should be of no real consequence. If you are worried about what it will be "worth" when you are through with it, then the salvage may have a negative effect on that.
As for the event in Indiana in May, you should consider coming down to Nashville for the full gathering. Several of us are not going on up to Auburn on Sunday. We always have a good time when TBN members get together. It would be nice to meet you.21 years, 174K miles, 48 States X 2 & DC, 9 Canadian provinces, 8 European countries, 3 Caribbean Islands, 3 Hawaiian Islands, 100+ National Park locations, 150+ T-bird events, 190+ retrobird diecasts/models, 13 TOTM pics & some very special friends...THANKS TBN !
