  • Fog lights won’t go off

I just bought my 2005 Tbird and noticed the fog lights won’t turn off. They are dimly lit. I’ve tried all position on the light dials and nothing turns them off.

Has as anyone else had this issue ??

Someone could have replaced the original bulbs with LEDs.

I think they are LEDs. And there’s three tiny little parts of the bulb that stay burning all the time. Is that normal?

Our 'Birds did not have fog lights. Someone may have attempted to convert the supplemental parking lamps to DRLs ( a popular mod) or to fog lights, and perhaps botched the job.

I recall reading that the T-Birds that went to Canada had running lights on all the time.

Correct. They also did not have the supplemental parking lights in the front bumper.

Right, you can replace the bulbs or wait another day or two for SteelBlue5505 (or other TBN whiz) to offer a solution. I don't have LEDs but from memory (which may be wrong) I believe the problem is that the LEDs take so little power the car's electronic computer thinks the lights are off. I'm pretty sure Mike can tell you where to put a resistor to solve the problem.

I have led bulbs in my parking lights on my 007 also. They stay on all the time although they are dim when the headlights are off. I've had them for several years now with no problems and the car is easy to find in the dark. I need all the help I can get.

Put the correct bulbs in the lamps and see if you still have the concern.

I wonder if an OBDII check would report defective/burnt out bulb in this case?

Thanks, Steel Blue / Mike sent me a PM and asked some questions on the history of my car / lights. I'm going to just to see if the supplemental (fog) lights are on in the daytime while the headlights are off and give him an update. I appreciate your help :-)
