I'm amazed at the number of people who still smile and stare at our 2002 T-Bird. Even here in FL where there are more than other areas of the country, it's still a fairly rare sight. There are numerous new Corvettes out and about here, and they're beautiful automobiles. But there aren't nearly as many retro Birds.

These Thunderbirds were a throwback to the T-Birds of the late1950's. A fun, nostalgic car for baby boomers and Gen X'ers who remember the Thunderbird from our childhood or young adult years. Yeah, some millennials will eventually own and buy them, but since they don't have the emotional connection to the original cars, I'm not sure it will have the same meaning as it does for a lot of us here today. Just enjoy driving them!

It is still very much today an attractive, attention grabbing car! One of our neighbors is a big time auto collector, collects Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lotus etc. All his enthusiast friends stop in the street when I have my TBIrd parked in the drive and tell me what a sweet ride I own. Young college women yell out "I love your car"...they might not know what it is but the appreciate the car anyway. Own them, enjoy them but most of all...drive them!The retro bird still has a place in our hearts!

I take mine down to the beach once a week and just sit in the car with the top down. (Weather permitting) I am amazed how many people walk by and stop to talk to me about the car. It makes ownership of the car a little bit nicer.

I have a friend who is a top shelf classic Corvette restomod builder and he has been goosing me for years to jump into one of those rides - with the accompanying $110K+ price tag. I got my '02 TBird at a small fraction of that cost and it cured that itch -- classic looks with modern amenities.... I've had it since this Valentine's Day and every time wifey and I head out to the garage to go on a drive, we wind up in the TBird...

And the National Corvette Museum has added it to my classic car policy with full coverage and 6,000 miles annual use for $95/year.

GEICO wanted hundreds without collision coverage.
