Most desirable year of retro bird

I think that all Automakers have to make yearly improvements to their offerings. Saying that, I'd have to believe that the 2005 model would be the most desirable. As a firm believer in Ford's ESP program I'd also say that one with the extended warranty is a no brainer with the 2005. (Date for getting one is rapidly approaching!) As CVCashmere said colors are special to some folks. (2004-Merlot is my favorite!) I'd like to have the Homelink header that was available in 2005. Maybe when I tear my header out to replace the reveal molding I'll be a candidate for the unit Our member Brad has for sale on the retro parts for sale site on Facebook.
Yes 2005 IMHO is the most desirable.Bill Coates-Canfield, Ohio

I'm a fan of the first year of production for classics, although they may be missing some later refinements, I think they represent the company striking out in a new direction and it increases desirability.
So I have an '02 TBird and a '63 Corvette split window coupe (the first Corvette coupe, the first hidden headlights, first Sting Ray, etc..)

I'v always thought that the first & last year of production models will be the most desirable, therefor the most valuable. Color, options, millage, and overall condition would also play a roll. Any "Special Addition" (007, PCR, 50th Anniversary, ECT.) should demand more attention. That said, all 2005's are 50th anniversary car's, but the Cashmere's, with the number plate on the glove box door are the special additions for that year and will be more desirable then, lets say a Black or white 05.
This is just my opinion, my $0.02, and I have a 05 Cashmere !!No matter where you go, there you are!
If I'm not here, I'll be somewhere else !

Fatman, the cashmere is also just another Retro.
Anyone can add a number plate to the glove box door. And owner's should all do that.
That type of info is easily obtained from QuickDraw. Any good trophy shop can make up a really attractive plate.
All the 2002-05 models are unique & special in many ways. In the eye of the beholder each one is going to be THE BEST EVER.
Speculation on if ever to be a "Classic" remains to be seen. Auction houses building inflated prices do not create classic cars.Mike

They're all great, and yearly differences are negligible, not important enough on their own to influence a choice.
If hunting, pick your color, and then proceed to weigh other factors.- Ted

The number plate installed by the factory are legitimate special additions. As you said I can add a number plate to a 58 Dodge dump truck, don't make it special, It's still a dump truck, didn't come from the factory with a plate. As for the prices at the auctions I hope they go up and up, that will make the perceived value of all Retro's increase.
As said, the one you have is "the best one ever", and I have a Cashmere, the best one too me. Again JMO.No matter where you go, there you are!
