I'll apologize in advance - - - Did you hear about the mechanic that was clawed to death? He was tightening the nuts on a Cougar. Joke is almost as old as me.

Any truth to the rumor that Cougars were simply re-skinned Mustangs?

My wife's uncle had a red/white vinyl top 69 XR7 with a 4sp/390, and crank sunroof.

He parked it next to his house and let it sit and sit and sit.....

Eventually, it rusted out and he had it junked.

I've always liked the first 2 years they were made with the exception of having to sometimes file the burrs off the headlight covers back in my younger days of working at an Autolite factory. Worst job ever....think about that every time I see that front grille!

Back in the early 70's I bought a 1967 Cougar, dark metallic green with a black vinal top. One of the cars I wish I had back today. Like the picture but the green was much darker.

The first car Barb and I bought after our Wedding and Honeymoon in 1968 was a new Cougar XR-7. It was her favorite car in her favorite color a creamy yellow with a black vinyl top. It seemed like every car had a vinyl top in those days 50 years ago!

Up until 1973 I believe, then the Mustang II made it's debut.
