Many thanks, all good advice. However, for some of us, the cat is already out of the barn. My 15-year old light sand top looks like a 15-year old light sand top. No amount of anything is going to bring it back. When it fails to keep out the weather, it will be replaced. Till then, I keep it hidden when I'm out and about and covered when it's home.

When you do replace, this is the way to go.

Sorry, but no. The Light Sand is a package and what attracted me to Merlot in the first place. I've changed a couple of other things, but I'll keep the package as delivered. Yours, however, does look good.

Great look color matching soft top to car. My car is black with a black top. Had a torch red hard top and loved the look. Thinking about doing torch red soft top when the time comes. No longer have hard top...

The easy solution for black streaks is a bottle of D2 which is gravestone cleaner. The streaks are actually mold. See my previous posts on this solution. It is about $22 on Amazon. It takes about 2 or three treatments and sand top is clean. One catch - when it rains and top is completely wet you will see some of the streaks again BUT when dry disappear!!

            It works

The article is only a guide not necessarily is it a must do thing for all cars. Cars with removable HTs have to have the soft top down for extended periods of time if the owner so desires. Wrinkles & folds can't be stopped.
But that just comes with the territory.

It also says that doing so will cause wrinkles that take “days” to remove. I once had mine down with the hardtop on for 18 months with no ill effects.

ALWAYS lower the top when it’s clean and COMPLETELY dry.

Interesting. I may try a bit of that D2 on a few minor spots on my top. I havent tried cleaning or washing the soft top yet.
