After the great granddaughter's t-ball game this morning, I drove Jewel over to Ft. Gibson, OK (oldest town in Oklahoma) to check out their annual car show. It wasn't a really large show but there were several really nice cars, including a couple of Thunderbirds, a white '60 and a Diamond Jubilee '78. I enjoyed talking to both owners.

I had just gone back to the car to head home when it started sprinkling. By the time I got home it had rained enough to get the car filthy, so I spent as much or more time cleaning her up as I did on the outing.

    Stand by Jim.
I am looking for a pix of my old used car a 1956 BLACK Mercedes. It is me and my twin posing by The Mercedes.

When I was stationed at Lemoore California Naval Station (NAS Lemoore),
the marine guards used to salute just in case it was an officer. I was only a Second Class Petty officer (only twice removed for Chief).
The good looking one is me.

    Mecedes-Me.jpg
It had 13 inch tires and the Mercedes had a great quiet ride.
If I ever buy a Mercedes it must be BLACK.

Got almost 50mpg an a 70 mile drive with a few miles of gravel road with AV full blast MAX. Temp in Lincoln was 90+.
P.S. Diesel was $2.89. The Explorer XLT Sport and Tbird like the $3.45 91 octane fuel
You may be right, Hermann, about black cars. We've never owned one as they are too hard to keep clean here in Phoenix (dust ALL the time), but I have to admit a clean, black car is a beautiful thing. Premium 91 octane here at Costco is 3.35.9 a gallon - and we're thankful for that.

Hope you're doing well - your name is still here on my prayer list.

Yeah, I get that reaction a lot...it was supposed to be 107 today...summer time in Phoenix.

I never reduced the brightness, so this is a none issue for me. Hermann provided really great guidance for me to get this done. The hardest part is removing the FEM from its position only because of the location. So if anyone has a dash light problem in the FEM I will be able to help you get your unit operational. Just let me know how you would like me to help. A public thanks goes out to Hermann and Volker for their help.
Please note, this great functional workaround for the instrument panel light fix needs to be credited to Volker alone.
I will take a litle credit as a tech interpreter/assistant (and pointing out the the entire Volker solution may be done externally to the FEM).

Car show today at the Polo Grounds. They pay us $10 (food voucher)for attending, and we're hoping it doesn't rain! The Villages is amazing!

The number of miles driven today with the top down.
The number of months that have passed since I last drove without the hardtop on.
The number of anniversary years celebrated today since I drove mine home from the dealer.

Thought I would add that as soon as I parked in the garage I heard a pop, followed by hissing & steam, followed by antifreeze on the floor. All that thanks to a blown-out thermostat housing I think. Will be flat-bedded for service soon and then hopefully many more miles added to the 160,000 on it already.

    This picture helps a lot.
I did not recognize it as a Corvette since I could not make out the front louvers in the picture.
There is no way mistaking it when you see the rear of the VET.

and what did I do with my t-birds today?

Well, a few weeks ago, George spent a day or two getting the Inca ready for an outdoor car show. I think I helped a little bit. oh yes, vacuumed floor mats. Anyway, today got the Inca out to go to the gym (I swim) but it was misting so decided that the 02Blue needed a natural wash job so took it. Got there, swam, then back out to the tbird. Noticed that the left front tire looked rather squishy. Drove to Discount Tire and ended up putting air in all 4 tires as there were Only 23# in one tire, 22 lbs in the two rears and 24 in the right front. oh, yeah. All the weather did was mist on the car so it still needs a wash.
