Excellent idea for a completely new project. Good luck and let us all know how things turn out.Originally posted by Bobnoir1 View PostI had new shoes put on the other day (Goodyear Sport A/S 235 17-55) and left the hubcaps off the 21 spoke chrome wheels for a while.
I have plenty of stock caps, but was wondering if there is an interesting alternative, still, a "retro" look. I searched extensively for a 5x108mm (4.25") spider hub, but no success there -- 4.5" is as small as is available.
OK, how about baby moons? None available for existing car wheels (8" minimum", but there are moons available for golf carts/trailers, etc. that fit 6" wheels openings. That's great, but the T-Bird cap diameter is 5 15/16". Mmmmmmm still, might a moon baby work?
Ordered a $7 cap and ........ no joy. Too wide by just.......one of those hair measurements.
Can it be made to fit?.............

Replaced the Motorcraft battery I installed in April 2019. Absolutely dead. Car would not even jump start. No charge for the replacement battery, but not
one of the activities I had planned for yesterday.
Wonder what percentage of batteries of all brands actually outlive the warranty or even come close.

Yeah, I've had three Diehard batteries die well before their warranty expired. It's probably the degradation of battery technology or materials used in the manufacture these days.Originally posted by Alamobird View PostReplaced the Motorcraft battery I installed in April 2019. Gave Roadie a bath and cleaned and Wheel Waxed the 16-spokes. There's a lot of surface area on those things!

I've replaced two Motorcraft batteries after 6 to 8 years when neither were causing problems just because I didn't want to take them on a long roadtrip and have them give up the ghost in the middle of nowhere. The 3rd one went into service in 2016 so it should be good for a few more years.Originally posted by Alamobird View PostReplaced the Motorcraft battery I installed in April 2019. Absolutely dead. In general I think most folks have gotten exceptional service from Motorcraft batteries, with some lasting a dozen years or more. I have no problem recommending them to anyone that asks about a replacement. That said, there are always exceptions to the norm - sounds like you had one.Last edited by 2K2BIRD; Sep 21, 2020, 01:00 PM.21 years, 174K miles, 48 States X 2 & DC, 9 Canadian provinces, 8 European countries, 3 Caribbean Islands, 3 Hawaiian Islands, 100+ National Park locations, 150+ T-bird events, 190+ retrobird diecasts/models, 13 TOTM pics & some very special friends...THANKS TBN !

Ford is like Sears. They don't make anything, just purchase from a supplier and stamp their name on it. I asked a Ford parts guy who makes Ford branded oil. He said that it depended on who got the last lowest bid.Originally posted by 4LOWBIRDS+7 View PostI agree with Paul, Motorcraft batteries are the best.
Last year, Johnson Controls sold to a new company, Clarios. From what I can tell, they made batteries for many major brands and
Clarios will continue the tradition.

The paintless guy said it couldn’t be done so it goes in next week for an old fashioned repair.Originally posted by 007Cruiser View PostTalked with my body guy today. He has a good paintless dent man coming to the shop on Wednesday. He will look at the crease in my door and see whether he can take it out. We will see.
