  • 2002 Yellow Bird - need interior parts

    Hi everyone,

I've had my Bird for years, but joined the Nest just today. As the old girl has some age on her now, she's in need of some facelifts. I am hoping folks here might have some suggestions.

The drivers side arm rest (Yellow) has some underlying RED showing through, looks awful. Physically its fine, but I'm guessing I need to replace the armrest portion. Any ideas where to buy such ?

Also, the Yellow/Black driver seat leather (bottom and back) is splitting, also looks pretty bad. I can recover the seats, but have no idea where to get the seat cover. I would also consider just replacing the seat.

Any idea, would be grateful. I'm getting ready to retire and its time to spend some quality time with my lady :-)

Welcome Joe, hope you enjoy the site. Occasionally you will see items on EBay . Google the retro bird site on Facebook that our member Brad (Bob Sinickis) has developed for us all. Maybe someone will post a link. I believe someone had a whole

yellow interior available not to long ago. Good hunting

found on Ebay. says make offer. Ask about individual needed parts. can't hurt

This one is for a door panel but shows a wrecked yellow Bird, so it might be worth an inquiry

Welcome Joe! I thinking that you may be able to dye the armrest. Good luck hunting down what you need. After all, that’s half the fun!

Yellow interior dye might be hard to match, but if you can find it try it....
My vintage Corvette buddies re-dye entire interiors with different colored dye and the stuff actually lasts, but the proper prep is crucial..

Sold Skip a set of yellow door panels a few years back, he may still have them . His bird is red so not needed for his car . Not sure of his handle .

Joe, I believe the Skip that Snowbird was referring to is Skip Panowitz. His email is: skip.panowitz@yahoo.com. Another suggestion is a place called Thunderbird Specialties. He has(had?) full 2002 seat sets made in China? about a year ago in yellow, red, turquoise (Thunderbird Blue) and a TBN member here in Sarasota ordered the turquoise covers from him. They are wonderful reproductions but VERY EXPENSIVE!! Good luck in your search. Steve Nelson

Harry you are correct. I recently had a seat repair in which I supplied the saddle material. When getting my first quote I was given a $ figure that I didn't think was bad until I was told it was per sq INCH, horribly expensive. Our buddy"s cost of $3500 + for just seats would get me inquiring of the gent that has the whole yellow interior available for approximately half of that. Ebay listing says make an offer. Steve Nelson is correct-very expensive.

i would contact 'BacktotheFuturePete". He is a member of this forum and is a T-Birder who also owns a custom upholstery shop. Hopefully he will see your posting and comment.
