Whew, that took longer than I could have imagined. Ron, thanks for checking with Joe.
It's amazing that we've had so many great events for so long that the details have become a little blurry. Okay, real blurry in some cases.
Maybe next Thursday's item will be a little easier. We'll see ....Last edited by 2K2BIRD; Jul 18, 2020, 05:04 PM.21 years, 174K miles, 48 States X 2 & DC, 9 Canadian provinces, 8 European countries, 3 Caribbean Islands, 3 Hawaiian Islands, 100+ National Park locations, 150+ T-bird events, 190+ retrobird diecasts/models, 13 TOTM pics & some very special friends...THANKS TBN !

Yes, 2009: Carolina Battleship Thunder - CBT. Ron is correct. Frits traveled all the way from Holland. It was a secret surprise that was killing me to keep. We stayed at the Wilmington Hilton across the Cape Fear River across from the Battleship USS NC. Those were an expensive special order and nearly did not arrive in time. I have them packed away. This is at Lorton Plantation outside Wilmington. This was my favorite and I should have not have sold it. Last time I checked it was registered to a Manhattan address.
I hope all of you are enjoying your Retros!Last edited by My Raven; Jul 18, 2020, 05:09 PM.sigpicSoaring with My Raven Under Carolina Blue Skies ...

Joe, tried to send you PM, but your box was full ... so will say here, thanks for the cool sign and the super event you put on back in 2009. Don't let my bad memory lead you to believe we didn't appreciate it. Ours has been proudly displayed all these years.
Don't be a sranger and don't forget to clean out your PMs.
Paul

Definitely a great logo, Joe. Frits always made excellent logos. The signatures on event banners really bring back memories since some of those that attended aren't with us anymore.
Don't forget to empty your trash box as well or you won't gain any space.21 years, 174K miles, 48 States X 2 & DC, 9 Canadian provinces, 8 European countries, 3 Caribbean Islands, 3 Hawaiian Islands, 100+ National Park locations, 150+ T-bird events, 190+ retrobird diecasts/models, 13 TOTM pics & some very special friends...THANKS TBN !

Joe, I am glad you still have the picture. It was a great event and while have we have trying to figure out where the plaque came from I remembered the big sign Connie and I had everyone sign at the event. Great memories with wonderful friends.Originally posted by My Raven View PostHi Paul!

i emptied out my inbox and that was a trip down memory lane and even messages from people I never knew or do not remember from the “original gang”.sigpic

That "2002 red thunderbird" was more than just a 2002 Thunderbird with a jag engine. It was THE test model for the supercharged program that didn't make it to production, guages and all still attached.Originally posted by 2Redbirds57/02 View PostWell Paul, was I right? If you remember, we met you and your group at Earl Tendol's garage and viewed his red 2002 thunderbird with the Jag engine and then joined you and the group to Wilmington. Much thanks to Joe for putting that event on.

You surely were. I remember ya'll meeting up with us and that visit to Earl's collection. I remember most aspects about the great event in Wilmington, but for some reason I blanked on the welcome sign coming from that event. The mind is a terrible thing ....Originally posted by 2Redbirds57/02 View PostWell Paul, was I right? Well, DUH, I should have looked at the wall, above the coat rack, in our laundry room. It has been hanging there for years since we got back from Carolina Battleship Thunder.Originally posted by 2K2BIRD View PostWow, just about let Thursday get by me. Here's an item that we got at an event somewhere along the way. I'm having a hard time remembering which one. Hopefully, someone that has one can fill in the blanks for me.

This week's throwback is a professional photo of the cars and attendees at an event. It won't be that hard to figure out the event, but I'll throw out a few trivia questions to see what folks remember or can figure out.
Hallett No Logo.jpg
1. Name the event including month & year and city.
2. What is the name of the track we were at for this picture?
3. On this road course we weren't constrained by a pace car. Participants were given some instruction, a few rules to follow including the wearing of helmets and were allowed to drive as fast as they felt comfortable. Frankly, some members weren't that comfortable with it at all and only completed a few laps. Others completed a whole 20 minute session or two, but there were 3 guys that stayed way later than all of the rest of the group to get in more laps. Name those guys.
4. Who has more than one car in this photo?
5. Name some of the other fun activities associated with this event.
6. A couple of months after the event we had a follow up get together of some of the participants in Dallas, TX. What happened that day?21 years, 174K miles, 48 States X 2 & DC, 9 Canadian provinces, 8 European countries, 3 Caribbean Islands, 3 Hawaiian Islands, 100+ National Park locations, 150+ T-bird events, 190+ retrobird diecasts/models, 13 TOTM pics & some very special friends...THANKS TBN !
