  • 18 year battery life

My 02 has been running its Wixom original battery. It would protest starting some last fall. I kept it on charger over the wi IMG_2314.JPG nter, but now for spring, while it says charged, would not deliver more than one start. New battery goes in today.

Wow, until now, 15 years on an original battery was the longest I had heard of. That was in a 1996 F-150 I once owned. I replaced the cables but not the battery.

My 2001 Sea Ray Bow Rider boat has the factory battery in still, I may replace it this summer just on principle but its exhibiting no symptoms of failure...

You sure had a good one, Steve. Happy to see you back in the nest. Still busy rebuilding Detroit?

What Gene said Steve. Wow guess they just don't build them like they used to!

My '04 had the original battery in it when I bought it in 2016. It was still strong when I changed it out of precaution. I thought 12 years was a stretch!

It has been some time since I visited and posted on the Nest. Yes Gene. My portfolio of rehabbed houses is up to 20 over the past 12 years. I rent mostly to Dental Students who come her from all over the US and international to study at U of Detroit, where I teach. I have the best job at the School. I teach human anatomy in the cadaver dissection lab, radiology and introduction to clinics. I am the only faculty with full time private practice, teach all three division (bio medical science, pre clinic and patient care clinic) and work with all 4 years of our students. The school and the office cover about 54 hours a week. Administrative time and running the rentals beyond that.

My big operation over the past 2 1/2 years was the purchase of a derelict and run down former bowling alley here in Lincoln Park. Built as "Shorty's Bar and Bowling" in 1924, the building had seen variety of uses including a rock and roll hook up/dance/mayhem sort of place in the 1970's. It became vacant 30 years ago and fell into disrepair. There was a tree growing through the roof drain kind of disrepair. 9,000 sq ft total space, with a huge parking lot. It covers almost an entire city block. It was built before the city became incorporated and subdivision and street layout. As a result it sits right in the middle of a residential neighborhood. The zoning is problematic as a result and I think that's why it was abandoned. The bowling equipment is long gone, but the original maple lanes were still there covered in carpet. Roof, drywall for ceiling, new electric and repurposing and refinishing the wood lanes is the short story of all the labor. Soon I will be moving my classic cars all under on roof in a 3,000 sq ft area my crew and I cleared of the bowling lanes to the underlying concrete. I envision a place for car clubs to meet, and in the future the infra structure will be ready for some other purpose. The original basket weave façade had been covered with vinyl siding which was vandalized and grafittied, now restored and media blasted. The project is consistent with my mission for community improvement and helping Dental Students, whom I've hired to help with general labor, providing cash income for them. IMG_0566.JPGIMG_2278.JPG

Wow! Steve I admire your energy.
It is good to see you return to TBN, just shows how this Nest gets into one's system.

And thank you for all you do for the community of & around Detroit.
                Mike

Damn, good for you Steve. Don’t be a stranger. As a Real Estate Broker in depressed Youngstown Ohio, I always enjoy stories of bringing depressed properties back to life.

I salute you for all that you are doing! Wish I were closer. My dentist just retired and I need a new one. First on my list of things I need to do when Covid settles down. Well that and the haircut I so desperately need.

Steve, I want to thank you for the good time I had along with many others back in 2007, at MoTown Thunder. It was the first TBN event of many for me. In Detroit I invited a high school buddy (George Stortz) who was a Corvette owner. He passed away in December of 2018 right after his 76th birthday, COPD was the cause.

A month later my other good travel buddy passed away 2 weeks after we had visited the Kissimmee, FL Mecum Auction in January 2019, Heart attack. There definitely seems to be a high risk of being over 70!

And, somehow I'm not relieved when the Medical Experts say COVID-19 only has dire effects on the elderly ( which is ME). Me and most of my contemporaries all have some pre-existing condition, even when it is hypertension under control with meds, or sleep apnea, requiring a CPAP. So, TBN is a godsend.

Are you speaking of the ITC Convention or a different event?

I believe the Michigan chapter of ITC is putting it on.
