Yes Cal, hate the egg crate grille that much. Only feature I dislike.

The grille I bought I owe to this site. Can't remember who posted about any interest on the grille I bought just being posted on Ebay. I saw the reference moments after the post. It was posted by someone with the tag name of Corvettespecialties . (sound like someone we know and love.?) I asked them to call as I could not believe the $200 price. A father was selling his son's estate and this was a part that never was installed before the son's untimely passing. He had no idea what his son paid so he thought $200 was fair.

When the part came (I forget the supplier's name--guess it's on the box housing the original grille in the attic) I called to see about the price for future orders. Said they had sold all available inventory to a Thunderbird parts web-site owner. From that conversation I surmised the Thunderbird site owner had about doubled the price.

Yeh Cal I hate the grille look. For $200 it was worth it. For thousands, I agree there would be no way!

The only custom replacement worthy of the 'Birds is (IMHO) the one from the Supercharged prototype. It is exactly the same configuration (horizontal and vertical bars)
but really makes the front end pop.

for 200 I would change to that billet grill in a heartbeat over the egg crate. but I cant justify 700 . if was wealthy enough to where it did not hurt me I would not hesitate.
            figured I needed something here

Thanks Phil...the emblem is removable. I just added a Jaguar XKR-S emblem to my trunk lid corner

Hi Greg. We've been going down the T-Bird road together for the last 8 years. I've been excited to see each and every mod that you've made in those 8 years. This one I don't understand. (Even though I've been predicting for 2 years that this model will be Black Beauty's replacement!)

Guys, this thread is entitled Custom Grilles and other modifications. Seems like Greg has started the other modification portion of the thread. Please post pictures of other customizations.

How about an Aston Martin or Rolls Royce badge?

I'd probably go with a Mercedes emblem since I've heard them called that more than once.
