I know that I can match with automotive paint but that’s not really plastic paint. There is adhesion promoter that is supposed to allow use on plastic. I would certainly speak to the supplier about that and the heat. May also look for a second cover to experiment on.

I did the Jag thing and Love the way it came out in the 2 tone of OEM Silver with Charcole sides. It makes the Red COP Covers with the T-Bird script pop. I have a great painter.

Noticed you have a CAI on your car. I took the same CAI off mine shortly after I got the car. Last week, tried the Jag cover and it requires extensive modification to the cover and still fits poorly. I too love that look but not enough to put the CAI noise box back on!!Originally posted by tomw1618 View PostI did the Jag thing ang LOVE the look.

Yes, you can get the primer at O'Reilly's or other auto parts store. If you're gonna try a test cover - you might want to look for the Lincoln cover that does fit our birds - - they are MUCH cheaper and easier to find than another tbird cover!! MUCH cheaper!!Originally posted by 007Cruiser View PostI know that I can match with automotive paint but that’s not really plastic paint. BTW. If you want to put a Jag cover on and fit right you need to do some minor trimming of a tab off the front and also replace the Ford OE Engine Cover Mounts with the Jag 4.2L ones. And use the Jag screws.

Thanks, but once I did all the trimming on the front of the cover - - I didn't like the look of it and I don't want to put the CAI back on so I'm stuck with what I have, but I'm pleased with it.Originally posted by tomw1618 View PostBTW. Our friend from Texas has advised that he keeps the Jag cover on with only the oil filler cap holding it down.Originally posted by tomw1618 View PostBTW. The term "minor trimming" in this post may apply - - - that is IF you have, as per the photo, the CAI unit installed. With the factory air box unit, the Jag cover requires extensive trimming on the front and still doesn't offer a suitable fit. Just my opinion.Originally posted by wcoates View Post

The Jag cover with the complete K & N CAI is a perfect fit. Just my opinion.Originally posted by philsbird View PostThe term "minor trimming" in this post may apply - - - that is IF you have, as per the photo, the CAI unit installed.
