P0430 Catalyst System

P0430 Catalyst System Efficiency below Limit - Bank No 2

So this is the message my check engine light announces. Anyone have any experience with this? Called my local Independent wrench turner who has worked on the Bird for 8 years to get it diagnosed. He reminded me that 3 springs ago I had the same code and he just cleaned the mass air flow gizmo and oxygen sensors and the light was out 'til now. Forgot all about that.

he asked if I had a can of compressed air. had a buzz bomb that I used to clean computer keyboard. He wanted me to spray all and get it and go ride it hard. This is a car that has only been started two or three times since Christmas. Called him back to say light is out. He wants to wait a week to see if it comes back. Anyone ever heard anything like this. It's my car and even I think that is preposterous!

Never heard of this but the repair sounds like fun. Perhaps we could consult with Dr. Zimsky.

I can see this happen with a car that just sits in a garage. Moister builds up and corrosion can set in. I have cleaned my mas air flow sensor three times in 18 years of owning this car. There is a spray just for that.
