No way. Despite our love for the retro Birds, it wasn't successful for Ford.

Why would they try again? The demographics for buyers have shrunk even further!

IMO, a Mustang (or Fusion) with a Thunderbird name slapped on it doesn't make it a Thunderbird.

Aren't the current ones Lincoln/Jaguars with thunderbird names?

Not in my opinion...Ford used the RWD platform as its beginning point, but then changed it up - shortened and reinforced it. Did they borrow from "bins" to create the retro? Yes, of course, but they did that in 1955 as well. You cannot look at the retro and then look at the Lincoln/Jag and see the connection, IMO. They are totally different cars.

If the Thunderbird were to make a future appearance, it should retain its original market as a "personal luxury car". The field has become so blurred over the years, does that market currently exist at all? More recent cars could be the Cadillac XLR, but with the advent of the SUV market, sedans are being phased out as are coupes, convertibles. There's the venerable Mustang that isn't a PLC or a sports car, so where would a Thunderbird fit in the current (or near future) market?
Bean counters at Ford have, no doubt, have the first and last say about what to design and sell.

Sorry, Phil, but I didn't post my response as an argument. You asked a question, and I simply answered that question.
