  • Top windshield reveal rusting

I've ordered new top molding for the windshield because of the rust bubbles. I'm thinking of caulking the edges with silicone sealant as I install it. Good? Bad? Other recommendations or preventive solutions? Mitch

I've owned 2 retros. Black Beauty with 110k on the clock as Spence says with a perfect reveal molding. Baby Blue with only 28K had a bad drivers side with rust...go figure...Although BB has always been stored inside, doubtful for Baby Blue

Mitch, the molding was 15-17 years old when it started to pit? I'd just strap the new one on and think you'll get another 17 years before it's a problem again. (make sure you have a deep socket to get in there correctly!)

I bought the car a couple of months ago from a dealership. Before I closed the deal I wanted them to replace the molding. Their body guy said it would cost $300 so I said "OK". Take $300 off the asking price and I'll buy.. That's where I am now. We all know that the molding sells for 150ish . I've got it and I'll put it on as soon as I get a chance. I think even a coat of enamel on the underside will help delay the rusting. Mitch
