I'm having to consider mounting my hard top above my car. My concern is I only have an 8 foot ceiling..a problem?

- Can you mount the hoist above the ceiling (attic area above the garage)?
- Are you willing to have the hard top hanging at a level where you could (and likely will) whack it on your head occasionally?
- Remember even with the hard top on the car, you will still have the hoist hook and/or bar hanging down when the car is not in the garage. (still possibly a head-knocker)

Jay no way to get into the attic..too small stairs. Due to the stairs we'd need to position the top over the hood. My car always is parked on that right side of the garage. Stewart has his top over his Cadillac and has an 8 foot ceiling..Unless we leave Florida, I doubt the top will get used.

It will hang way below the ceiling just by design. I have a 10' high garage ceiling and I never mounted the one I have because it had to be too low and besides in the Northwest the trusses are designed to carry snow load and not for use in any other way. Adding 88 plus pounds of downward force is not a safe option in snow country. I shudda known better before I bought it since I was a General Contractor.

I have a 10'4" ceiling and the top clears the wife's Durango but not by a whole lot - I don't think 8' will work; and a proper truss system, even in Florida will darned well hold 88 lbs effortlessly. IMG_1607.jpgIMG_1608.jpg
