  • 2005 Thunderbird, Front Wheels Brake Dust problem

HI, Just wondering if this is unique to my vehicle, only on my front wheels do I get excessive amounts of brake dust.

In an attempt to solve, I had ceramic disc pads and new rotors installed, with no real improvement.
    Weird.
My TB has whitewall tires so it's particularly annoying!.

    suggestions?

I put covers on but the ceramic helped too.

The fronts do most of the braking so it's not unusual.

          1. Don’t brake

          2. Switch to blackwall tires (my choice for next time)

ceramic pads should have taken care of the brake dust problem.

Update: Somebody recommended calling the supplier, EBC. They offered to replace both front and rear sets under warranty. (Even tho I only bought front kit)
They said maybe because I had regular in the rear, may have overloaded front, and caused the dust. Otherwise, they said I may not have bedded them in properly.
              Anyway, pretty darn good service.

If that fails I'll go for covers as you guys suggested. I found these, shame to hide my fancy calipers, but better than black dust on the whitewalls.

Lets see how it works out. Smed.

Be thankful that you don’t have wire wheels.

Take your pick; either you will get more brake dust with softer pads or more rotor ware with the harder ceramic pads.

Get some Bleach White at Walmart and keep those whitewalls. Your car looks great with that choice!

I put ceramic pads on at 40,000 miles and now on my second set at 152,000 and haven't had any problems with dust. I used NAPA pads.

I have the dust covers and ceramic pads and the combination keeps the brake dust down on the whitewalls to a minimum.
