Cruise control is given speed data by way of the wheel sensors providing revolution numbers to the Power train Control Module & the ABS control module. The blinking light could be a sign that a wheel sensor is not functioning as it should.
There could be a fault code registered if you check the diagnostic s with a code reader.
It would be well worth the time to have checked.Mike

Here are some possibilities from a Ford Expedition forum. I think it’s electrical in some way but a good balance couldn’t hurt as you are feeling a vibration.

Update on cruise control light blinking.
Had had the tires high-speed balance and the lights still comes on at 70 mph and I am still feeling a vibration.
My next thought is to put new tires on the car since these were on the car when I purchased it this year.
If it is a speed warning sensor where are they located and how do you find out which one is bad
Any additional thoughts or help would be appreciatedLast edited by chairpa; Nov 27, 2020, 01:56 PM.

Frank, trying to get a better understanding of what is occurring. Cruise control works correctly. You can set it & it will maintain the selected speed? Doesn't drift up or down by 2-5 mph?
How about if you 1st bring car up to 75 then set the cruise control to that speed, does indicator light blink? If it does not blink what happens if you bring the speed back down to 70 using the button not the brake?
What happens at speeds between 65-70?
What is the speedometer needle doing when the cruise light is blinking, steady or jumpy?
The 2002-05 Thunderbird doesn't have a visual or audio alarm for exceeding a preset speed.
I can post illustrations from the shop manual to show you the position of the wheel speed sensors, but really do not think they are the cause of what is occurring especially if you only see this at exactly 70 mph. I would think if this is caused by speed induced vibration that the blinking light would occur sooner than 70 & not stop blinking at greater speeds.Last edited by steelblue5505; Nov 28, 2020, 02:42 PM.Mike
