  • Engine warning light on with no codes

Today Sunday the engine warning light come on , went to my local Advance store and the tech did the test and found no codes , he was not able to turn it off , the same thing happen a few days ago and my mechanic also found no codes but was able turn it off .
Car runs fine with no issues , any here with pointers on this very disturbing issue ?

    Thanks

Check your gas cap---Seriously a not fully tight gas cap has been know to do this. Another is MAF sensor could be dirty and it can be cleaned or replaced.

Also if after you check that if you disconnect the battery for like 5 minutes and reconnect it could clear the check engine light.

If you find the gas cap is the culprit the check light will reset itself overnite. Mitch

The gas cap looks to be secure , I order a MAF just in case it is defective , my Bird has 134K miles and has the original MAF , so I will report on this when it gets replaced . BTW it has a clean air filter and the car runs fine with no issues with the check engine light ON , go figure :(

I'd disconnect the battery as mentioned. It should reset and then I'd drive it to see if the light comes on again. If it does, then you might get a code this time. If doesn't, then I wouldn't worry about it.

You could also check your o2 sensors on the exhaust system . ( Loos wire , dirty , etc. ) .
