Hmm, throttle body sensor?. but if so it should have thrown a code.. I do think since the MAF made a difference that this could be an intake problem. Even if it were something in the emission controls like the Oxygen sensor a code should show up. I just hope it is not an FEM malfunction of some type

Couldn't you take it to the Ford dealer and pay their $125 diagnostic fee to find the cause?Originally posted by VIno Bird View PostWell the Bird has done it again , back to the trusted repair shop , it runs fine , plenty power , no hesitation , starts on one click , no issues , getting a bit frustrated with Vino Bird

Quickdraw could very well be right. I experienced an airbag light after I installed a power seat motor. I made the mistake of turning the ignition on before I had all the wires connected. My mechanic who has a $15000.00 OBD reader could not find a code or turn off the light. I took it to my Ford dealer. They charged me $65.00 to turn off the light. I was informed by the service writer that some things always need to be corrected by a Ford tech on a Ford system monitor / readerOriginally posted by Quickdraw View Post

There is almost always a code if the check engine light comes on UNLESS you have an electrical problem like a bad or loose connection in the instrument cluster, or the PCM module or the dionogistic tools being used can not get into & read all the codes in the PCM.
I might also point out to you that replacement of the gas cap was suggested to do way back in the beginning of your post. The gas cap is part of the emissions system which all dionogistic readers should be able to read, but some codes require a threshold of repeated faults before presenting a code. Each time the ignition is turned off if the threshold has not been achieved the count goes back to zero.Mike

Have tried taking it to an Autozone or other parts store and have them run the scan? Perhaps your mechanic's reader has a glitch. Alll it will take is few minutes to get a double check.Originally posted by VIno Bird View Post
