Think about this. You never know when one of you will face a serious health problem. Leave while both of you are still well and and can enjoy your plans together.

My wife wanted to work until she was 70 years old, which is 7 years from now. I recently ran the numbers and showed her she could retire at the end of this year and maintain the same lifestyle, and she's now counting the days. We're both looking forward to the freedom to do things we've always wanted to do. It's truly a personal choice, but I'm encouraging you to seriously consider retiring and spend more time with your wife, family, and friends instead of working. Here's a list I kept on my wall prior to retiring:

The 7 Ways the Time to Retire is Right!
1} You've calculated your retirement budget.
2} You're not filing for early Social security.
      3} You have health insurance.
      4) Your debt is under control.
5} You have health concerns that may make it difficult to work.
6} You've discussed retirement with your spouse.
7} There's so much you can't wait to do.

Once I had checked them all off, except for #5, I called my boss and gave him 6 months notice.
Update. Judy was supposed to retire at the end of March this year. Shortly after her replacement was hired and training was underway, the replacement told their supervisor she was pregnant. They work for BayCare Health Systems which has a fully paid 3-month maternity leave policy. Judy volunteered to sub for her replacement during the maternity leave, So they kept Judy on part-time on-call duty working 2 days per week. Judy goes back to fulltime starting Monday for the three month maternity leave. The plan afterward is to keep her on part-time until May next year. She turns 65 on May 20th, so she will be eligible for Medicare full benefits beginning in June. So May 31st will finally be her real retirement date.

It's interesting that both of us had a hard time staying away after we retired.

Had an aortic aneurysm 2013, drove myself to the ER @ 4AM.
doc put in a cow membrane valve and a chunk of hospital grade radiator hose, gave me 15% chance.
and here I am. Tried to convince my wife that due to the cow membrane there are societies I would be considered part god……..she claims BS.
So I piddle with nuts and bolts stuff, little Gunsmithimg , Target shooting but mostly mowing and chainsawing our 4.5 miles of wooded trails.
little lady still likes to ride her dirt bikes.

grateful I have more time with my kids.
